which handles the same while loop.

Socket communication in the libqtest and libqmp codes uses read()
and write() which work on any file descriptor on *nix, and sockets
in *nix are an example of a file descriptor.
However sockets on Windows do not use *nix-style file descriptors,
so read() and write() cannot be used on sockets on Windows.
Switch over to use send() and recv() instead which work on both
Windows and *nix.

With a pipe or other reasons, read/write may return less than the
requested bytes. This happens with the test-io-channel-command test on
Windows. glib spawn code uses a binary pipe of 4096 bytes, and the first
read returns that much (although more are requested), for some unclear
reason...

Replace the global variables with inlined helper functions. getpagesize() is very
likely annotated with a "const" function attribute (at least with glibc), and thus
optimization should apply even better.
This avoids the need for a constructor initialization too.

The socket API wrappers were initially introduced in commit
00aa0040 ("Wrap recv to avoid warnings"), but made redundant with
commit a2d96af4 ("osdep: add wrappers for socket functions") which fixes
the win32 declarations and thus removed the earlier warnings.

The include for statvfs.h has not been needed since all statvfs calls
were removed in commit 4a1418e07bdc ("Unbreak large mem support by
removing kqemu").
The comment mentioning CONFIG_BSD hasn't made sense since an include
for config-host.h was removed in commit aafd75841001 ("util: Clean up
includes").
Remove this cruft.

On older Solaris releases (before Solaris 11), we didn't get a
prototype for madvise, and so util/osdep.c provides its own prototype.
Some time between the public Solaris 11.4 release and Solaris 11.4.42
CBE, we started getting an madvise prototype that looks like this:
extern int madvise(void *, size_t, int);
which conflicts with the prototype in util/osdeps.c. Instead of always
declaring this prototype, check if we're missing the madvise()
prototype, and only declare it ourselves if the prototype is missing.
Move the prototype to include/qemu/osdep.h, the normal place to handle
platform-specific header quirks.
The 'missing_madvise_proto' meson check contains an obviously wrong
prototype for madvise. So if that code compiles and links, we must be
missing the actual prototype for madvise.

Function qemu_dirent_dup() is currently only used by 9pfs server, so move
it from project global header osdep.h to 9pfs specific header 9p-util.h.

The "hardware version" machinery (qemu_set_hw_version(),
qemu_hw_version(), and the QEMU_HW_VERSION define) is used by fewer
than 10 files. Move it out from osdep.h into a new
qemu/hw-version.h.

with it are used in only 10 files. Move them out of osdep.h to a new
qemu/madvise.h header that is included where it is needed.

`struct dirent' returned from readdir(3) could be shorter (or longer)
than `sizeof(struct dirent)', thus memcpy of sizeof length will overread
into unallocated page causing SIGSEGV. Example stack trace:

A common error scenario is to tell QEMU to use O_DIRECT in combination
with a filesystem that doesn't support it. To aid users to diagnosing
their mistake we want to provide a clear error message when this happens.

qemu_open_old() works like open(): set errno and return -1 on failure.
It has even more failure modes, though. Reporting the error clearly
to users is basically impossible for many of them.
Our standard cure for "errno is too coarse" is the Error object.
Introduce two new helper methods:
int qemu_open(const char *name, int flags, Error **errp);
int qemu_create(const char *name, int flags, mode_t mode, Error **errp);
Note that with this design we no longer require or even accept the
O_CREAT flag. Avoiding overloading the two distinct operations
means we can avoid variable arguments which would prevent 'errp' from
being the last argument. It also gives us a guarantee that the 'mode' is
given when creating files, avoiding a latent security bug.

Currently code has to call monitor_fdset_get_fd, then dup
the return fd, and then add the duplicate FD back into the
fdset. This dance is overly verbose for the caller and
introduces extra failure modes which can be avoided by
folding all the logic into monitor_fdset_dup_fd_add and
removing monitor_fdset_get_fd entirely.

Most files that have TABs only contain a handful of them. Change
them to spaces so that we don't confuse people.
disas, standard-headers, linux-headers and libdecnumber are imported
from other projects and probably should be exempted from the check.
Outside those, after this patch the following files still contain both
8-space and TAB sequences at the beginning of the line. Many of them
have a majority of TABs, or were initially committed with all tabs.

Per supported platforms doc[1], the various min glib on relevant distros is:

This suggests that a minimum glib of 2.42 is a reasonable target.
The GLibC compile farm, however, uses Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty) which only
has glib 2.40.0, and this is needed for testing during merge. Thus an
exception is made to the documented platform support policy to allow for
all three current LTS releases to be supported.
Docker jobs that not longer satisfy this new min version are removed.

Introduce a new global big lock for mon_fdsets. Take it where needed.
The monitor_fdset_get_fd() handling is a bit tricky: now we need to call
qemu_mutex_unlock() which might pollute errno, so we need to make sure
the correct errno be passed up to the callers. To make things simpler,
we let monitor_fdset_get_fd() return the -errno directly when error
happens, then in qemu_open() we move it back into errno.

Build time check of OFD lock is not sufficient and can cause image open
errors when the runtime environment doesn't support it.
Add a helper function to probe it at runtime, additionally. Also provide
a qemu_has_ofd_lock() for callers to check the status.

qemu/osdep.h checks whether MAP_ANONYMOUS is defined, but this check
is bogus without a previous inclusion of sys/mman.h. Include it in
sysemu/os-posix.h and remove it from everywhere else.

Move declarations out of qemu-common.h for functions declared in
utils/ files: e.g. include/qemu/path.h for utils/path.c.
Move inline functions out of qemu-common.h and into new files (e.g.
include/qemu/bcd.h)

There are two issues with qemu_hw_version() today:
1) If a machine has hw_version set, the value returned by it is
not very useful, because it is not the actual QEMU version.
2) If a machine does't set hw_version, the return value of
qemu_hw_version() is broken, because it will change when
upgrading QEMU.
For those reasons, using qemu_hw_version() is strongly
discouraged, and should be used only in code that used
QEMU_VERSION in the past and needs to keep compatibility.
To fix (2), instead of making every machine broken by default
unless they set hw_version, make qemu_hw_version() simply return
"2.5+" if qemu_set_hw_version() is not called.

glib >= 2.31 always enables thread support and g_thread_supported()
is #defined to 1, there's no need to call g_thread_init() anymore,
and it definitely does not need to report error which never happens.
Keep code for old < 2.31 glibc anyway for now, just #ifdef it
differently.

glib versions prior to 2.31.0 require an explicit g_thread_init() call
to enable multi-threading.
Failure to initialize threading causes glib to take single-threaded code
paths without synchronization. For example, the g_slice allocator will
crash due to race conditions.
Fix this for all QEMU tool programs (qemu-nbd, qemu-io, qemu-img) by
moving the g_thread_init() call from vl.c:main() into a new
osdep.c:thread_init() constructor function.
thread_init() has __attribute__((constructor)) and is automatically
invoked by the runtime during startup.
We can now drop the "simple" trace backend's g_thread_init() call since
thread_init() already called it.
Note that we must keep coroutine-gthread.c's g_thread_init() call which
is located in a constructor function. There is no guarantee for
constructor function ordering so thread_init() may only be called later.

Print a warning when opening a file O_DIRECT fails with EINVAL. This
saves users a lot of time trying to figure out the EINVAL error, which
is typical when attempting to open a file O_DIRECT on Linux tmpfs.

Commit e9d8fbf (qemu-file: do not use stdio for qemu_fdopen, 2013-03-27)
introduced a usage of writev, which mingw32 does not have. Even though
qemu_fdopen itself is not used on mingw32, the future-proof solution is
to add an implementation of it. This is simple and similar to how we
emulate sendmsg/recvmsg in util/iov.c.
Some files include osdep.h without qemu-common.h, so move the definition
of iovec to osdep.h too, and include osdep.h from qemu-common.h
unconditionally (protection against including files when NEED_CPU_H is
defined is not needed since the removal of AREG0).
