2023-11-07ui/sdl2: use correct key names in win title on macAdrian Wowk
Previously, when using the SDL2 UI on MacOS, the title bar uses incorrect key names (such as Ctrl and Alt instead of the standard MacOS key symbols like ⌃ and ⌥). This commit changes sdl_update_caption in ui/sdl2.c to use the correct symbols when compiling for MacOS (CONFIG_DARWIN is defined). Unfortunately, standard Mac keyboards do not include a "Right-Ctrl" key, so in the case that the SDL grab mode is set to HOT_KEY_MOD_RCTRL, the default text is still used. Although an input is routed depending on the console, qemu_input_is_absolute() had no mechanism to specify the console. Accept QemuConsole as an argument for qemu_input_is_absolute, and let the display know the absolute/relative state for a particular console. 2023-05-28ui/sdl2: disable SDL_HINT_GRAB_KEYBOARD on WindowsVolker Rümelin
Windows sends an extra left control key up/down input event for every right alt key up/down input event for keyboards with international layout. Since commit 830473455f ("ui/sdl2: fix handling of AltGr key on Windows") QEMU uses a Windows low level keyboard hook procedure to reliably filter out the special left control key and to grab the keyboard on Windows. The SDL2 version 2.0.16 introduced its own Windows low level keyboard hook procedure to grab the keyboard. Windows calls this callback before the QEMU keyboard hook procedure. This disables the special left control key filter when the keyboard is grabbed. To fix the problem, disable the SDL2 Windows low level keyboard hook procedure. SDL doesn't grab Alt+F4 under Windows by default. Pressing Alt+F4 thus closes the VM immediately without confirmation, possibly leading to data loss. By default, SDL grabs Alt+Tab only in non-fullscreen mode. This causes Alt+Tab to switch tasks on the host rather than in the VM in fullscreen mode while it switches tasks in non-fullscreen mode in the VM. Fix this confusing behavior by grabbing Alt+Tab in fullscreen mode, always causing tasks to be switched in the VM. 2023-03-21ui/sdl2: remove workaround forcing x11Erico Nunes
This workaround was put in place in the original implementation almost 10 years ago, considering a very old SDL2 version. Currently it prevents users to run in a wayland-only environment without manually forcing the backend. The SDL2 wayland backend has been supported by distributions for a very long time (e.g. in Fedora, first available 8 years ago), and is now considered stable and becoming the default for new SDL2 releases. Instead of requiring the x11 backend to exist by default, let new qemu releases run with the default chosen by the installed SDL2 version. There is no guarantee to have a current GL context here. The current code seems to rely on the renderer using a GL backend, and to set a current GL context. But this is not always the case, for example if the renderer backend is DirectX. This change is enough to fix using virgl with sdl2 on win32, on my setup. The "-display sdl" option still uses a hand-crafted parser for its parameters since we didn't want to drag an interface we considered somewhat flawed into the QAPI schema. Since the flaws are gone now, it's time to QAPIfy. This introduces the new "DisplaySDL" QAPI struct that is used to hold the parameters that are unique to the SDL display. The only specific parameter is currently "grab-mod" that is used to specify the required modifier keys to escape from the mouse grabbing mode. sysemu/sysemu.h is a rather unfocused dumping ground for stuff related to the system-emulator. Evidence: * It's included widely: in my "build everything" tree, changing sysemu/sysemu.h still triggers a recompile of some 1100 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h, down from 5400 due to the previous two commits). * It pulls in more than a dozen additional headers. Split stuff related to run state management into its own header sysemu/runstate.h. Touching sysemu/sysemu.h now recompiles some 850 objects. qemu/uuid.h also drops from 1100 to 850, and qapi/qapi-types-run-state.h from 4400 to 4200. Touching new sysemu/runstate.h recompiles some 500 objects. Since I'm touching MAINTAINERS to add sysemu/runstate.h anyway, also add qemu/main-loop.h. Modern desktop environments can render icons at very large sizes, especially with high DPI screens. Providing a 32x32 pixel bitmap is nowhere near sufficient anymore. When displayed in GNOME shell the QEMU icon looks awful, having been scaled up to at least x4 its base size. This is compounded by the fact that the BMP file doesn't do transparency, so while we've removed white pixels, we still have anti-aliased nearly-white pixels which make the logo look appalling on black backgrounds. Loading a high resolution PNG icon addresses both problems, but requires use of the extra SDL2_image library. Signed-off-by: Daniel P. QEMU currently installs logos to $prefix/share/qemu/ which means no GUI toolkit or applications can find them by default. The accepted standards for desktop applications declare that application logos / icons should be installed under $prefix/share/icons, so use this directory location. Pre-rendered icons are provided at the standard sizes expected for GUI applications, along with the scalable SVG, to ensure maximum portability. The PNGs are rendered from the SVG using inkscape, however, this is not wired up into the default make rules to avoid requiring inkscape as a mandatory tool in build systems / developer workstations. SDL_INIT_NOPARACHUTE is not used in SDL2 anymore, and the define is just a dummy (see https://wiki.libsdl.org/MigrationGuide#Some_general_truths for example). So we can remove it and get rid of the "flags" variable nowadays. After some hotkey was pressed sdl2 doesn't forward the first modifier keyup event to the guest, resulting in stuck modifier keys. Fix the logic in handle_keyup(). Also gui_key_modifier_pressed doesn't need to be a global variable.
