2016-03-22include/qemu/osdep.h: Don't include qapi/error.hMarkus Armbruster
Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h, compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a similar job to this file and are under similar constraints." qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of 100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need. Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List. Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h, sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h comment quoted above similarly. This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one. Signed-off-by: Markus Armbruster <armbru@redhat.com> [Fix compilation without the spice devel packages. - Paolo] Signed-off-by: Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com>

2015-10-09qdev: Protect device-list-properties against broken devicesMarkus Armbruster
Several devices don't survive object_unref(object_new(T)): they crash or hang during cleanup, or they leave dangling pointers behind. This breaks at least device-list-properties, because qmp_device_list_properties() needs to create a device to find its properties. Broken in commit f4eb32b "qmp: show QOM properties in device-list-properties", v2.1. Example reproducer: $ qemu-system-aarch64 -nodefaults -display none -machine none -S -qmp stdio {"QMP": {"version": {"qemu": {"micro": 50, "minor": 4, "major": 2}, "package": ""}, "capabilities": []}} { "execute": "qmp_capabilities" } {"return": {}} { "execute": "device-list-properties", "arguments": { "typename": "pxa2xx-pcmcia" } } qemu-system-aarch64: /home/armbru/work/qemu/memory.c:1307: memory_region_finalize: Assertion `((&mr->subregions)->tqh_first == ((void *)0))' failed. Aborted (core dumped) [Exit 134 (SIGABRT)] Unfortunately, I can't fix the problems in these devices right now. Instead, add DeviceClass member cannot_destroy_with_object_finalize_yet to mark them: * Hang during cleanup (didn't debug, so I can't say why): "realview_pci", "versatile_pci". * Dangling pointer in cpus: most CPUs, plus "allwinner-a10", "digic", "fsl,imx25", "fsl,imx31", "xlnx, zynqmp", because they create such CPUs * Assert kvm_enabled(): "host-x86_64-cpu", host-i386-cpu", "host-powerpc64-cpu", "host-embedded-powerpc-cpu", "host-powerpc-cpu" (the powerpc ones can't currently reach the assertion, because the CPUs are only registered when KVM is enabled, but the assertion is arguably in the wrong place all the same) Make qmp_device_list_properties() fail cleanly when the device is so marked. This improves device-list-properties from "crashes, hangs or leaves dangling pointers behind" to "fails". Not a complete fix, just a better-than-nothing work-around. In the above reproducer, device-list-properties now fails with "Can't list properties of device 'pxa2xx-pcmcia'". This also protects -device FOO,help, which uses the same machinery since commit ef52358 "qdev-monitor: include QOM properties in -device FOO, help output", v2.2. Example reproducer: $ qemu-system-aarch64 -machine none -device pxa2xx-pcmcia,help Before: qemu-system-aarch64: .../memory.c:1307: memory_region_finalize: Assertion `((&mr->subregions)->tqh_first == ((void *)0))' failed. 2015-07-09cpu: Change cpu_exec_init() arg to cpu, not envPeter Crosthwaite
The callers (most of them in target-foo/cpu.c) to this function all have the cpu pointer handy. Just pass it to avoid an ENV_GET_CPU() from core code (in exec.c). 2015-07-09cpu: Add Error argument to cpu_exec_init()Bharata B Rao
Add an Error argument to cpu_exec_init() to let users collect the error. This is in preparation to change the CPU enumeration logic in cpu_exec_init(). With the new enumeration logic, cpu_exec_init() can fail if cpu_index values corresponding to max_cpus have already been handed out. Since all current callers of cpu_exec_init() are from instance_init, use error_abort Error argument to abort in case of an error. 2013-07-29cpu: Partially revert "cpu: Change qemu_init_vcpu() argument to CPUState"Andreas Färber
Commit c643bed99 moved qemu_init_vcpu() calls to common CPUState code. This causes x86 cpu-add to fail with "KVM: setting VAPIC address failed". The reason for the failure is that CPUClass::kvm_fd is not yet initialized in the following call graph: ->x86_cpu_realizefn ->x86_cpu_apic_realize ->qdev_init ->device_set_realized ->device_reset (hotplugged == 1) ->apic_reset_common ->vapic_base_update ->kvm_apic_vapic_base_update This causes attempted KVM vCPU ioctls to fail. By contrast, in the non-hotplug case the APIC is reset much later, when the vCPU is already initialized. As a quick and safe solution, move the qemu_init_vcpu() call back into the targets' realize functions. 2013-07-23cpu: Turn cpu_get_phys_page_debug() into a CPUClass hookAndreas Färber
Change breakpoint_invalidate() argument to CPUState alongside. Since all targets now assign a softmmu-only field, we can drop helpers cpu_class_set_{do_unassigned_access,vmsd}() and device_class_set_vmsd(). 2013-03-12cpu: Replace do_interrupt() by CPUClass::do_interrupt methodAndreas Färber

2013-02-16cpu: Add CPUArchState pointer to CPUStateAndreas Färber
The target-specific ENV_GET_CPU() macros have allowed us to navigate from CPUArchState to CPUState. The reverse direction was not supported. Avoid introducing CPU_GET_ENV() macros by initializing an untyped pointer that is initialized in derived instance_init functions. The field may not be called "env" due to it being poisoned. 2013-02-01target-unicore32: Rename CPU subtypesAndreas Färber
In the initial conversion of CPU models to QOM types, model names were mapped 1:1 to type names. As a side effect this gained us a type "any", which is now a device. To avoid "-device any" silliness and to pave the way for compiling multiple targets into one executable, adopt a <name>-<arch>-cpu scheme. No functional changes for -cpu arguments. 2013-02-01target-unicore32: Mark as unmigratableAndreas Färber
CPU_SAVE_VERSION 2 was bogus as both save and load would just throw a hw_error(). Therefore we can without problems suppress registration of "cpu_common" VMState by dropping CPU_SAVE_VERSION define and provide an unmigratable "cpu" VMStateDescription for UniCore32CPU at device level instead, where we can attach this the QOM way.
