2016-09-06s390x/cpumodel: "host" and "qemu" as CPU subclassesDavid Hildenbrand
This patch introduces two CPU models, "host" and "qemu". "qemu" is used as default when running under TCG. "host" is used as default when running under KVM. "host" cannot be used without KVM. "host" is not migration-safe. They both inherit from the base s390x CPU, which is turned into an abstract class. This patch also changes CPU creation to take care of the passed CPU string and reuses common code parse_features() function for that purpose. Unknown CPU definitions are now reported. The "-cpu ?" and "query-cpu-definition" commands are changed to list all CPU subclasses automatically, including migration-safety and whether static. 2016-06-09cpu-exec: Rename cpu_resume_from_signal() to cpu_loop_exit_noexc()Peter Maydell
The function cpu_resume_from_signal() is now always called with a NULL puc argument, and is rather misnamed since it is never called from a signal handler. It is essentially forcing an exit to the top level cpu loop but without raising any exception, so rename it to cpu_loop_exit_noexc() and drop the useless unused argument. exec-all.h contains TCG-specific definitions. It is not needed outside TCG-specific files such as translate.c, exec.c or *helper.c. One generic function had snuck into include/exec/exec-all.h; move it to include/qom/cpu.h. Signed-off-by: Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com>

2016-03-22include/qemu/osdep.h: Don't include qapi/error.hMarkus Armbruster
Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h, compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a similar job to this file and are under similar constraints." qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of 100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need. Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List. Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h, sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h comment quoted above similarly. This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one. Signed-off-by: Markus Armbruster <armbru@redhat.com> [Fix compilation without the spice devel packages. - Paolo] Signed-off-by: Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com>

2015-06-17target-s390x: PER: add Breaking-Event-Address registerAurelien Jarno
This patch adds support for PER Breaking-Event-Address register. Like real hardware, it save the current PSW address when the PSW address is changed by an instruction. We have to take care of optimizations QEMU does, a branch to the next instruction is still a branch. This register is copied to low core memory when a program exception happens. 2015-06-17target-s390x: PER storage-alteration event supportAurelien Jarno
For the PER storage-alteration event we can use the QEMU watchpoint infrastructure. When PER is enabled or PER control register changed we enable the corresponding watchpoints. When a watchpoint arises we can save the event. Unfortunately the current code does not provide the address space used to trigger the watchpoint. For now we assume it comes from the default ASC. 2015-06-17target-s390x: basic PER event handlingAurelien Jarno
This patch add basic support to generate PER exceptions. It adds two fields to the cpu structure to record for the PER address and PER code & ATMID values. When an exception is triggered and a PER event is pending, the two PER values are copied to the lowcore area. At the end of an instruction, an helper is checking for a possible pending PER event and triggers an exception in that case. For that to work with branches, we need to disable TB chaining when PER is activated. Fortunately it's already in the TB flags. Finally in case of a SERVICE CALL exception, we need to trigger the PER exception immediately after. Signed-off-by: Aurelien Jarno <aurelien@aurel32.net> Signed-off-by: Alexander Graf <agraf@suse.de>

2015-02-18s390x/mmu: Skip exceptions properly when translating addresses for debugThomas Huth
When a fault occurs during the MMU lookup in s390_cpu_get_phys_page_debug(), the trigger_page_fault() function writes the translation exception code into the lowcore - something you would not expect during a memory access by the debugger. 2014-10-10s390x/kvm: proper use of the cpu states OPERATING and STOPPEDDavid Hildenbrand
This patch makes sure that halting a cpu and stopping a cpu are two different things. Stopping a cpu will also set the cpu halted - this is needed for common infrastructure to work (note that the stop and stopped flag cannot be used for our purpose because they are already used by other mechanisms). A cpu can be halted ("waiting") when it is operating. If interrupts are disabled, this is called a "disabled wait", as it can't be woken up anymore. A stopped cpu is treated like a "disabled wait" cpu, but in order to prepare for a proper cpu state synchronization with the kvm part, we need to track the real logical state of a cpu. This prepares for moving the halted field to CPUState. Most call sites can already supply S390CPU, for some env becomes unused. Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de> Acked-by: Cornelia Huck <cornelia.huck@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Alexander Graf <agraf@suse.de>
2013-02-01target-s390x: Clean up cpu_inject_*() signaturesAndreas Färber
Despite cautioning that S390CPU is needed for upcoming CPUState refactorings, commit 5d69c547d947798cba92d836d06f6e017ba2b19d (s390: I/O interrupt and machine check injection.) added functions cpu_inject_io() and cpu_inject_crw_mchk() with CPUS390XState argument, claiming consistency with cpu_inject_ext(). This complicates making cpu_interrupt() take a CPUState even more and it required to pass &cpu->env from some S390CPU-aware call sites already, creating inconsistency elsewhere. Address that. This also eliminates the need for CPUS390XState in s390_virtio_irq(). 2013-02-01target-s390x: Fix debug outputAndreas Färber
Commit 71e470886fb6092504503a5fe41092ace71c096c (target-s390x: fix style) renamed the cpu_s390x_handle_mmu_fault() argument from _vaddr to orig_vaddr. Update the debug output code. Signed-off-by: Andreas Färber <afaerber@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Alexander Graf <agraf@suse.de>
