2022-09-26Remove the slirp submodule (i.e. compile only with an external libslirp)Thomas Huth
Since QEMU 7.1 we don't support Ubuntu 18.04 anymore, so the last big important Linux distro that did not have a pre-packaged libslirp has been dismissed. All other major distros seem to have a libslirp package in their distribution already - according to repology.org: Fedora 35: 4.6.1 CentOS 8 (RHEL-8): 4.4.0 Debian 11: 4.4.0 OpenSUSE Leap 15.3: 4.3.1 Ubuntu LTS 20.04: 4.1.0 FreeBSD Ports: 4.7.0 NetBSD pkgsrc: 4.7.0 Homebrew: 4.7.0 MSYS2 mingw: 4.7.0 The only one that was still missing a libslirp package is OpenBSD - but the next version (OpenBSD 7.2 which will be shipped in October) is going to include a libslirp package. Since QEMU 7.2 will be published after OpenBSD 7.2, we should be fine there, too. So there is no real urgent need for keeping the slirp submodule in the QEMU tree anymore. Thus let's drop the slirp submodule now and rely on the libslirp packages from the distributions instead. An out-of-bounds access issue was found in the SLIRP user networking implementation of QEMU. It could occur while processing ARP/NCSI packets, if the packet length was shorter than required to accommodate respective protocol headers and payload. A privileged guest user may use this flaw to potentially leak host information bytes. 2019-02-12slirp: remove slirp_ prefix for socket wrappersMarc-André Lureau
QEMU wraps the socket functions in os-win32.h, but in commit a9d8b3ec4385793815d71217857304, the header inclusion was dropped, breaking libslirp on Windows. There are already a few socket functions that are wrapped in libslirp, with "slirp_" prefix, but many of them are missing, and we are going to wrap the missing functions in a second patch. Using "slirp_" prefix avoids the conflict with socket function #define wrappers in QEMU os-win32.h, but they are quite intrusive. In the end, the functions should behave the same as original one, but with errno being set. To avoid the churn, and potential confusion, remove the "slirp_" prefix. A series of #undef is necessary until libslirp is made standalone to prevent the #define conflict with QEMU. Make slirp use GLib logging, instead of fprintf(), so that applications can filter log, process it etc. With recent versions of glib, G_MESSAGES_DEBUG must be set to "all" or "Slirp" to see slirp debug messages. Now that socreate() can never fail, we can remove the code that was trying to handle that situation. In particular this removes code in tcp_connect() that provoked Coverity to complain (CID 1005724): in closesocket(accept(inso->s, (struct sockaddr *)&addr, &addrlen)); if the accept() call fails then we pass closesocket() -1 instead of a valid file descriptor. 2018-05-31slirp: disable Nagle in outgoing connectionsAndreas Gustafsson
When setting up an outgoing user mode networking TCP connection, disable the Nagle algorithm in the host-side connection. Either the guest is already doing Nagle, in which case there is no point in doing it twice, or it has chosen to disable it, in which case we should respect that choice. This change speeds up GDB remote debugging over TCP over user mode networking (with GDB runing on the guest) by multiple orders of magnitude, and has been part of the local patches applied by pkgsrc since 2012 with no reported ill effects. 2017-11-09slirp: don't zero the whole ti_i when m == NULLTao Wu
98c63057d2144fb81681580cd84c13c93794c96e ('slirp: Factorizing tcpiphdr structure with an union') introduced a memset call to clear possibly-undefined fields in ti. This however overwrites src/dst/pr which are used below. So let us clear only the unused fields. This should fix some rare cases (some RST cases, keep alive probes) where packets would be sent to 0.0.0.0. On Darwin, connect, sendto and friends want the exact size of the sockaddr, not more (and in particular, not sizeof(struct sockaddr_storaget)) This commit adds the sockaddr_size helper to be used when passing a sockaddr size to such function, and makes use of it int sendto and connect calls. IPv6 stuff Basically, this patch adds some switch in various TCP functions to prepare them for the IPv6 case. To have something to "switch" in tcp_input() and tcp_respond(), a new argument is used to give them the sa_family of the addresses they are working on. This patch does not include the entailed reindentation, to make proofread easier. Reindentation is adressed in the following no-op patch. This patch factorizes the tcpiphdr structure to put the IPv4 fields in an union, for addition of version 6 in further patch. Using some macros, retrocompatibility of the existing code is assured. 2016-02-04slirp: Factorizing address translationGuillaume Subiron
This patch factorizes some duplicate code into a new function, sotranslate_out(). This function perform the address translation when a packet is transmitted to the host network. If the packet is destinated to the host, the loopback address is used, and if the packet is destinated to the virtual DNS, the real DNS address is used. This code is just a copy of the existent, but factorized and ready to manage the IPv6 case. On the same model, the major part of udp_output() code is moved into a new sotranslate_in(). This function is directly used in sorecvfrom(), like sotranslate_out() in sosendto(). udp_output() becoming useless, it is removed and udp_output2() is renamed into udp_output(). This adds consistency with the udp6_output() function introduced by further patches. Lastly, this factorizes some duplicate code into sotranslate_accept(), which performs the address translation when a connection is established on the host for port forwarding: if it comes from localhost, the host virtual address is used instead. This prepares for IPv6 support. 2016-02-04slirp: Make Socket structure IPv6 compatibleGuillaume Subiron
This patch replaces foreign and local address/port couples in Socket structure by 2 sockaddr_storage which can be casted in sockaddr_in. Direct access to address and port is still possible thanks to some \#define, so retrocompatibility of the existing code is assured. The ss_family field of sockaddr_storage is declared after each socket creation. The whole structure is also saved/restored when a Qemu session is saved/restored. This prepares for IPv6 support.
