Since commit 0f8c289ad "net: fix -netdev socket,fd= for UDP sockets"
we allow more than one parameter for -netdev socket. But now
we run into an assert when no parameter at all is specified

Fix this by reverting the change of the if condition done in 0f8c289ad.

When -net socket fails, it first reports a specific error, then
a generic one, like this:
$ ./x86_64-softmmu/qemu-system-x86_64 -net socket,mcast=230.0.0.1:1234,listen
qemu-system-x86_64: -net socket,mcast=230.0.0.1:1234,listen: exactly one of listen=, connect=, mcast= or udp= is required
qemu-system-x86_64: -net socket,mcast=230.0.0.1:1234,listen: Device 'socket' could not be initialized
Convert net_socket_*_init() to Error to get rid of the superfluous second
error message. After the patch, the effect like this:
$ ./x86_64-softmmu/qemu-system-x86_64 -net socket,mcast=230.0.0.1:1234,listen
qemu-system-x86_64: -net socket,mcast=230.0.0.1:1234,listen: exactly one of listen=, connect=, mcast= or udp= is requireda
This also fixes a few silent failures to report an error.

In net_socket_fd_init(), the 'default' case is odd: it warns,
then continues as if the socket type was SOCK_STREAM. The
comment explains "this could be a eg. a pty", but that makes
no sense. If @fd really was a pty, getsockopt() would fail
with ENOTSOCK. If @fd was a socket, but neither SOCK_DGRAM nor
SOCK_STREAM. It should not be treated as if it was SOCK_STREAM.
Turn this case into an Error. If there is a genuine reason to
support something like SOCK_RAW, it should be explicitly
handled.

This patch fixes -netdev socket,fd= for UDP sockets
Currently -netdev socket,fd=<...> results in
qemu: error: specified mcastaddr "127.0.0.1" (0x7f000001) does not
contain a multicast address
qemu-system-x86_64: -netdev

To fix these we need to allow specifying multicast and fd arguments
for the same netdev. With this the user can specify "-netdev

This reverts commit 883e4f7624e10b98d16d9adaffb8b1795664d899.
This code changed net/socket.c from using socket()+connect(),
to using socket_connect(). In theory this is great, but in
practice this has completely broken the ability to connect
the frontend and backend:
$ ./x86_64-softmmu/qemu-system-x86_64 \
-device e1000,id=e0,netdev=hn0,mac=DE:AD:BE:EF:AF:05 \
-netdev socket,id=hn0,connect=localhost:1234
qemu-system-x86_64: -device e1000,id=e0,netdev=hn0,mac=DE:AD:BE:EF:AF:05: Property 'e1000.netdev' can't find value 'hn0'
The old code would call net_socket_fd_init() synchronously,
while letting the connect() complete in the backgorund. The
new code moved net_socket_fd_init() so that it is only called
after connect() completes in the background.
Thus at the time we initialize the NIC frontend, the backend
does not exist.
The socket_connect() conversion as done is a bad fit for the
current code, since it did not try to change the way it deals
with async connection completion. Rather than try to fix this,
just revert the socket_connect() conversion entirely.
The code is about to be converted to use QIOChannel which
will let the problem be solved in a cleaner manner. This
revert is more suitable for stable branches in the meantime.

net/net: Add SocketReadState for reuse codes
This function is from net/socket.c, move it to net.c and net.h.
Add SocketReadState to make others reuse net_fill_rstate().
suggestion from jason.
This refactored the state out of NetSocketState into a
separate SocketReadState. This refactoring requires
that a callback is provided to be triggered upon
completion of a packet receive from the guest.
The patch only registered this callback in the codepaths
hit by -net socket,connect, not -net socket,listen. So
as a result packets sent by the guest in the latter case
get dropped on the floor.
This bug is hidden because net_fill_rstate() silently
does nothing if the callback is not set.
This patch adds in the middle callback registration
and also adds an assert so that QEMU aborts if there
are any other codepaths hit which are missing the
callback.

This is a mostly-mechanical conversion that creates a new flat
union 'Netdev' QAPI type that covers all the branches of the
former 'NetClientOptions' simple union, where the branches are
now listed in a new 'NetClientDriver' enum rather than generated
from the simple union. The existence of a flat union has no
change to the command line syntax accepted for new code, and
will make it possible for a future patch to switch the QMP
command to parse a boxed union for no change to valid QMP; but
it does have some ripple effect on the C code when dealing with
the new types.
While making the conversion, note that the 'NetLegacy' type
remains unchanged: it applies only to legacy command line options,
and will not be ported to QMP, so it should remain a wrapper
around a simple union; to avoid confusion, the type named
'NetClientOptions' is now gone, and we introduce 'NetLegacyOptions'
in its place. Then, in the C code, we convert from NetLegacy to
Netdev as soon as possible, so that the bulk of the net stack
only has to deal with one QAPI type, not two. Note that since
the old legacy code always rejected 'hubport', we can just omit
that branch from the new 'NetLegacyOptions' simple union.

Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the
Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h
everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into
possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include
any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h,
compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a
similar job to this file and are under similar constraints."
qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to
similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of
100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need.
Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of
qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't
get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List.
Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match
reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h,
sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h
comment quoted above similarly.
This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all
of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on
qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one.

Simple unions were carrying a special case that hid their 'data'
QMP member from the resulting C struct, via the hack method
QAPISchemaObjectTypeVariant.simple_union_type(). But by using
the work we started by unboxing flat union and alternate
branches, coupled with the ability to visit the members of an
implicit type, we can now expose the simple union's implicit
type in qapi-types.h:
| struct q_obj_ImageInfoSpecificQCow2_wrapper {
| ImageInfoSpecificQCow2 *data;
| };
|
| struct q_obj_ImageInfoSpecificVmdk_wrapper {
| ImageInfoSpecificVmdk *data;
| };
...
| struct ImageInfoSpecific {
| ImageInfoSpecificKind type;
| union { /* union tag is @type */
| void *data;
|- ImageInfoSpecificQCow2 *qcow2;
|- ImageInfoSpecificVmdk *vmdk;
|+ q_obj_ImageInfoSpecificQCow2_wrapper qcow2;
|+ q_obj_ImageInfoSpecificVmdk_wrapper vmdk;
| } u;
| };
Doing this removes asymmetry between QAPI's QMP side and its
C side (both sides now expose 'data'), and means that the
treatment of a simple union as sugar for a flat union is now
equivalent in both languages (previously the two approaches used
a different layer of dereferencing, where the simple union could
be converted to a flat union with equivalent C layout but
different {} on the wire, or to an equivalent QMP wire form
but with different C representation). Using the implicit type
also lets us get rid of the simple_union_type() hack.
Of course, now all clients of simple unions have to adjust from
using su->u.member to using su->u.member.data; while this touches
a number of files in the tree, some earlier cleanup patches
helped minimize the change to the initialization of a temporary
variable rather than every single member access. The generated
qapi-visit.c code is also affected by the layout change:

Now that QEMU wraps the Win32 sockets methods to automatically
set errno upon failure, there is no reason for callers to use

We have two issues with our qapi union layout:
1) Even though the QMP wire format spells the tag 'type', the
C code spells it 'kind', requiring some hacks in the generator.
2) The C struct uses an anonymous union, which places all tag
values in the same namespace as all non-variant members. This
leads to spurious collisions if a tag value matches a non-variant
member's name.
Make the conversion to the new layout for net-related code.

This callback is called by main loop before polling s->fd, if it returns
false, the fd will not be polled in this iteration.
This is redundant with checks inside read callback. After this patch,
the data will be sent to peer when it arrives. If the device can't
receive, it will be queued to incoming_queue, and when the device status
changes, this queue will be flushed.
If the peer is not ready, disable the read poll until send completes.

Error reporting for netdev_add is broken: the net_client_init_fun[]
report the actual errors with (at best) error_report(), and their
caller net_client_init1() makes up a generic error on top.
For command line and HMP, this produces an mildly ugly error cascade.
In QMP, the actual errors go to stderr, and the generic error becomes
the command's error reply.
To fix this, we need to convert the net_client_init_fun[] to Error.
To permit fixing them one by one, add an Error ** parameter to the
net_client_init_fun[]. If the call fails without returning an Error,
make up the same generic Error as before. But if it returns one, use
that instead. Since none of them does so far, no functional change.

monitor_handle_fd_param() is a wrapper around
monitor_handle_fd_param2() that feeds errors to qerror_report_err()
instead of returning them. qerror_report_err() is inappropriate in
many contexts. monitor_handle_fd_param() looks simpler than
monitor_handle_fd_param2(), which tempts use. Remove the temptation:
drop the wrapper and open-code the (trivial) error handling instead.
Replace the open-coded qerror_report_err() by error_report_err() in
places that already use error_report(). Turns out that's everywhere.

Some of these support both listen and connect.
Not all code paths set the socket to non-blocking. This patch addresses

Socket buffer sizes were hard-coded to 4K for VDE and socket netdevs. Bump this
up to 68K (ala tap netdev) to handle maximum GSO packet size (64k) plus plenty
of room for the ethernet and virtio_net headers.
Originally, ran into this limitation when using -netdev UDP sockets to connect
VM-to-VM, where VM interface is configure with MTU=9000. (Using virtio_net
NIC model). Test is simple: ping -M do -s 8500 <target>. This test will
attempt to ping with unfragmented packet of given size. Without patch, size
is limited to < 4K (minus protocol hdrs). With patch, ping test works with pkt
size up to 9000 (again, minus protocol hdrs).
v2: per Stefan, increase buf size to (4096+65536) as done in tap and apply
to vde and socket netdevs.

Reduce -netdev socket latency by disabling the Nagle algorithm on
SOCK_STREAM sockets in net/socket.c. Since we are tunelling Ethernet
over TCP we shouldn't artificially delay outgoing packets, let the guest
decide packet scheduling.
I already get sub-millisecond -netdev socket ping times on localhost, so
there was no measurable difference in my testing. This won't hurt
though and may improve remote socket performance.

Move public headers to include/net, and leave private headers in net/.
Put the virtio headers in include/net/tap.h, removing the multiple copies
that existed. Leave include/net/tap.h as the interface for NICs, and
net/tap_int.h as the interface for OS-specific parts of the tap backend.

Fix the problem that can not delete the udp socket.
It's caused by passing "udp" model to net_socket_udp_init,
but we do not have "udp" model in our model list.
Pass the right model "socket" to init function.

This patch doesn't seem much useful alone, I must admit. However,
it makes sense as part of the upcoming directory reorganization,
where I want to have include/net/tap.h as the net<->hw interface
for tap. Then having both net/tap.h and include/net/tap.h does
not work. "Fixed" by moving all the init functions to a single
header file net/clients.h.
The patch also adopts a uniform style for including net/*.h files
from net/*.c, without the net/ path.

Commit 213fd5087e2e4e2da10ad266df0ba950cf7618bf removed a type cast
which is needed for MinGW:
net/socket.c:136: warning:
pointer targets in passing argument 2 of ‘sendto’ differ in signedness
/usr/lib/gcc/amd64-mingw32msvc/4.4.4/../../../../amd64-mingw32msvc/include/winsock2.h:1313: note:
expected ‘const char *’ but argument is of type ‘const uint8_t *’
Add a 'qemu_sendto' macro which provides that type cast where needed
and use the new macro instead of 'sendto'.

Replace spinning send_all() with a proper non-blocking send. When the
socket write buffer limit is reached, we should stop trying to send and
wait for the socket to become writable again.
Non-blocking TCP sockets can return in two different ways when the write
buffer limit is reached:
1. ret = -1 and errno = EAGAIN/EWOULDBLOCK. No data has been written.
2. ret < total_size. Short write, only part of the message was
transmitted.
Handle both cases and keep track of how many bytes have been written in
s->send_index. (This includes the 'length' header before the actual
payload buffer.)

Implement asynchronous send for UDP (or other SOCK_DGRAM) sockets. If

The net/socket.c net client is not truly asynchronous. This patch
borrows the qemu_set_fd_handler2() code from net/tap.c as the basis for
proper asynchronous send/receive.
Only read packets from the socket when the peer is able to receive.
This avoids needless queuing.
Later patches implement asynchronous send.

This patch renames+moves the net_handle_fd_param() caller used to
obtain a file descriptor from either qemu_parse_fd() (the normal case)
or from monitor_get_fd() (migration case) into a generically prefixed
monitor_handle_fd_param() to be used by vhost-scsi code.
Also update net/[socket,tap].c consumers to use the new prefix.

The -net socket,listen option does not work with the newer -netdev
syntax:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2011-11/msg01508.html
This patch makes it work now.
For the case where one vlan has multiple listenning sockets,
the patch will also provide the support.
Supported syntax:
1.) -net socket,listen=127.0.0.1:1234,vlan=0
2.) -net socket,listen=127.0.0.1:1234,vlan=0 -net socket,listen=127.0.0.1:1235,vlan=0
3.) -netdev socket,listen=127.0.0.1:1234,id=socket0
Drop the NetSocketListenState struct and add a listen_fd field
to NetSocketState. When a -netdev socket,listen= instance is created
there will be a NetSocketState with fd=-1 and a valid listen_fd. The
net_socket_accept() handler waits for listen_fd to become readable and
then accepts the connection. When this state transition happens, we no
longer monitor listen_fd for incoming connections...until the client
disconnects again.

The vlan feature is no longer part of net core. Rename VLANClientState
to NetClientState because net clients are not explicitly associated with
a vlan at all, instead they have a peer net client to which they are
connected.
This patch is a mechanical search-and-replace except for a few
whitespace fixups where changing VLANClientState to NetClientState
misaligned whitespace.
