2022-10-21m68k: rework BI_VIRT_RNG_SEED as BI_RNG_SEEDJason A. Donenfeld
Following a change on the kernel side (see link), pass BI_RNG_SEED instead of BI_VIRT_RNG_SEED. This should have no impact on compatibility, as there will simply be no effect if it's an old kernel, which is how things have always been. We then use this as an opportunity to add this to q800, since now we can, which is a nice improvement. 2022-07-22hw/i386: pass RNG seed via setup_data entryJason A. Donenfeld
Tiny machines optimized for fast boot time generally don't use EFI, which means a random seed has to be supplied some other way. For this purpose, Linux (≥5.20) supports passing a seed in the setup_data table with SETUP_RNG_SEED, specially intended for hypervisors, kexec, and specialized bootloaders. The linked commit shows the upstream kernel implementation. At Paolo's request, we don't pass these to versioned machine types ≤7.0. 2022-07-06m68k: virt: pass RNG seed via bootinfo blockJason A. Donenfeld
This commit wires up bootinfo's RNG seed attribute so that Linux VMs can have their RNG seeded from the earliest possible time in boot, just like the "rng-seed" device tree property on those platforms. 2021-03-15pvrdma: wean code off pvrdma_ring.h kernel headerCornelia Huck
The pvrdma code relies on the pvrdma_ring.h kernel header for some basic ring buffer handling. The content of that header isn't very exciting, but contains some (q)atomic_*() invocations that (a) cause manual massaging when doing a headers update, and (b) are an indication that we probably should not be importing that header at all. Let's reimplement the ring buffer handling directly in the pvrdma code instead. This arguably also improves readability of the code. Importing the header can now be dropped. 2020-12-10target/i386: Support up to 32768 CPUs without IRQ remappingDavid Woodhouse
The IOAPIC has an 'Extended Destination ID' field in its RTE, which maps to bits 11-4 of the MSI address. Since those address bits fall within a given 4KiB page they were historically non-trivial to use on real hardware. The Intel IOMMU uses the lowest bit to indicate a remappable format MSI, and then the remaining 7 bits are part of the index. Where the remappable format bit isn't set, we can actually use the other seven to allow external (IOAPIC and MSI) interrupts to reach up to 32768 CPUs instead of just the 255 permitted on bare metal. 2020-09-23qemu/atomic.h: rename atomic_ to qatomic_Stefan Hajnoczi
clang's C11 atomic_fetch_*() functions only take a C11 atomic type pointer argument. QEMU uses direct types (int, etc) and this causes a compiler error when a QEMU code calls these functions in a source file that also included <stdatomic.h> via a system header file: $ CC=clang CXX=clang++ ./configure ... && make ../util/async.c:79:17: error: address argument to atomic operation must be a pointer to _Atomic type ('unsigned int *' invalid) Avoid using atomic_*() names in QEMU's atomic.h since that namespace is used by <stdatomic.h>. Prefix QEMU's APIs with 'q' so that atomic.h and <stdatomic.h> can co-exist. I checked /usr/include on my machine and searched GitHub for existing "qatomic_" users but there seem to be none. This patch was generated using: $ git grep -h -o '\<atomic\(64\)\?_[a-z0-9_]\+' include/qemu/atomic.h | \ sort -u >/tmp/changed_identifiers $ for identifier in $(</tmp/changed_identifiers); do sed -i "s%\<$identifier\>%q$identifier%g" \ $(git grep -I -l "\<$identifier\>") done I manually fixed line-wrap issues and misaligned rST tables. 2018-02-26virtio-gpu-3d: add support for second capability set (v4)Dave Airlie
Due to a kernel bug we can never increase the size of capability set 1, so introduce a new capability set in parallel, old userspace will continue to use the old set, new userspace will start using the new one when it detects a fixed kernel. v2: don't use a define from virglrenderer, just probe it. v3: fix compilation when virglrenderer disabled v4: fix style warning, just use ?: op instead.
