2019-08-16Include hw/irq.h a lot lessMarkus Armbruster
In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/irq.h triggers a recompile of some 5400 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h). hw/hw.h supposedly includes it for convenience. Several other headers include it just to get qemu_irq and.or qemu_irq_handler. Move the qemu_irq and qemu_irq_handler typedefs from hw/irq.h to qemu/typedefs.h, and then include hw/irq.h only where it's still needed. Touching it now recompiles only some 500 objects. 2019-08-16include: Make headers more self-containedMarkus Armbruster
Back in 2016, we discussed[1] rules for headers, and these were generally liked: 1. Have a carefully curated header that's included everywhere first. We got that already thanks to Peter: osdep.h. 2. Headers should normally include everything they need beyond osdep.h. If exceptions are needed for some reason, they must be documented in the header. If all that's needed from a header is typedefs, put those into qemu/typedefs.h instead of including the header. 3. Cyclic inclusion is forbidden. This patch gets include/ closer to obeying 2. It's actually extracted from my "[RFC] Baby steps towards saner headers" series[2], which demonstrates a possible path towards checking 2 automatically. It passes the RFC test there. 2017-08-02mips: Add KVM T&E segment support for TCGJames Hogan
MIPS KVM trap & emulate guest kernels have a different segment layout compared with traditional MIPS kernels, to allow both the user and kernel code to run from the user address segment without repeatedly trapping to KVM. QEMU currently supports this layout only for KVM, but its sometimes useful to be able to run these kernels in QEMU on a PC, so enable it for TCG too. This also paves the way for MIPS KVM VZ support (which uses the normal virtual memory layout) by abstracting whether user mode kernel segments are in use. 2017-07-14memory/iommu: QOM'fy IOMMU MemoryRegionAlexey Kardashevskiy
This defines new QOM object - IOMMUMemoryRegion - with MemoryRegion as a parent. This moves IOMMU-related fields from MR to IOMMU MR. However to avoid dymanic QOM casting in fast path (address_space_translate, etc), this adds an @is_iommu boolean flag to MR and provides new helper to do simple cast to IOMMU MR - memory_region_get_iommu. The flag is set in the instance init callback. This defines memory_region_is_iommu as memory_region_get_iommu()!=NULL. This switches MemoryRegion to IOMMUMemoryRegion in most places except the ones where MemoryRegion may be an alias. 2016-12-20Move target-* CPU file into a target/ folderThomas Huth
We've currently got 18 architectures in QEMU, and thus 18 target-xxx folders in the root folder of the QEMU source tree. More architectures (e.g. RISC-V, AVR) are likely to be included soon, too, so the main folder of the QEMU sources slowly gets quite overcrowded with the target-xxx folders. To disburden the main folder a little bit, let's move the target-xxx folders into a dedicated target/ folder, so that target-xxx/ simply becomes target/xxx/ instead. Add API for converting physical addresses to KVM guest KSEG0 addresses, and fix the existing API for converting KSEG0 addresses to physical addresses to work in the KVM case. Both have the same sized KSEG0, so it's just a case of fixing the mask. 2013-07-29hw/mips: align initrd to 64KB to avoid kernel errorJames Hogan

2013-04-08hw: move headers to include/Paolo Bonzini
Many of these should be cleaned up with proper qdev-/QOM-ification. Right now there are many catch-all headers in include/hw/ARCH depending on cpu.h, and this makes it necessary to compile these files per-target. However, fixing this does not belong in these patches.
