2018-12-18qmp hmp: Make system_wakeup check wake-up support and run stateDaniel Henrique Barboza
The qmp/hmp command 'system_wakeup' is simply a direct call to 'qemu_system_wakeup_request' from vl.c. This function verifies if runstate is SUSPENDED and if the wake up reason is valid before proceeding. However, no error or warning is thrown if any of those pre-requirements isn't met. There is no way for the caller to differentiate between a successful wakeup or an error state caused when trying to wake up a guest that wasn't suspended. This means that system_wakeup is silently failing, which can be considered a bug. Adding error handling isn't an API break in this case - applications that didn't check the result will remain broken, the ones that check it will have a chance to deal with it. Adding to that, the commit before previous created a new QMP API called query-current-machine, with a new flag called wakeup-suspend-support, that indicates if the guest has the capability of waking up from suspended state. Although such guest will never reach SUSPENDED state and erroring it out in this scenario would suffice, it is more informative for the user to differentiate between a failure because the guest isn't suspended versus a failure because the guest does not have support for wake up at all. All this considered, this patch changes qmp_system_wakeup to check if the guest is capable of waking up from suspend, and if it is suspended. 2018-11-19hw/arm/stm32f205: Fix the UART and Timer region sizeSeth Kintigh
The UART and timer devices for the stm32f205 were being created with memory regions that were too large. Use the size specified in the chip datasheet. The old sizes were so large that the devices would overlap with each other in the SoC memory map, so this fixes a bug that caused odd behavior and/or crashes when trying to set up multiple UARTs. Since I doubt fixing the documentation will stop people from getting it wrong, introduce error_propagate_prepend(), in the hope that it lures people away from using its constituents in the wrong order. Update the instructions in error.h accordingly. Convert existing error_prepend() next to error_propagate to error_propagate_prepend(). If any of these get reached with &error_fatal or &error_abort, the error messages improve. I didn't check whether that's the case anywhere. 2018-08-23hw/timer/mc146818rtc: Fix introspection problemThomas Huth
There is currently a funny problem with the "mc146818rtc" device: 1) Start QEMU like this: qemu-system-ppc64 -M pseries -S 2) At the HMP monitor, enter "info qom-tree". Note that there is an entry for "/rtc (spapr-rtc)". 3) Introspect the mc146818rtc device like this: device_add mc146818rtc,help 4) Run "info qom-tree" again. The "/rtc" entry is gone now! The rtc_finalize() function of the mc146818rtc device has two bugs: First, it tries to remove a "rtc" property, while the rtc_realizefn() added a "rtc-time" property instead. And second, it should have been done in an unrealize function, not in a finalize function, to avoid that this causes problems during introspection. But since adding aliases to the global machine state should not be done from a device's realize function anyway, let's rather fix this issue by moving the creation of the alias to the code that creates the device (and thus is run from the machine init functions instead), i.e. the mc146818_rtc_init() function for most machines. The prep machines are special, since the mc146818rtc device is created here in the realize function of the i82378 device. Since we certainly don't want to add the alias there, we add it to some code that is called from the ibm_40p_init() machine init function instead. Since the alias is now only created during the machine init, we can remove the object_property_del() completely. If the CMSDK APB timer is set up with a zero RELOAD value then it will count down to zero, fire once and then stay at zero. From the point of view of the ptimer system, the timer is disabled; but the enable bit in the CTRL register is still set and if the guest subsequently writes to the RELOAD or VALUE registers this should cause the timer to start counting down again. Add code to the write paths for RELOAD and VALUE so that we correctly restart the timer in this situation. Conversely, if the new RELOAD and VALUE are both zero, we should stop the ptimer. The CMSDK APB timer is currently always configured as periodic timer. This results in the following messages when trying to boot Linux. Timer with delta zero, disabling If the timer limit set with the RELOAD command is 0, the timer needs to be enabled as one-shot timer. The CMSDK timer interrupt triggers when the counter goes from 1 to 0, so we want to trigger immediately, rather than waiting for a clock cycle. Drop the incorrect NO_IMMEDIATE_TRIGGER setting. We also do not want to get an interrupt if the guest sets the counter directly to zero, so use the new TRIGGER_ONLY_ON_DECREMENT policy. 2018-06-26aspeed/timer: use the APB frequency from the SCUCédric Le Goater
The timer controller can be driven by either an external 1MHz clock or by the APB clock. Today, the model makes the assumption that the APB frequency is always set to 24MHz but this is incorrect. The AST2400 SoC on the palmetto machines uses a 48MHz input clock source and the APB can be set to 48MHz. The consequence is a general system slowdown. The QEMU machines using the AST2500 SoC do not seem impacted today because the APB frequency is still set to 24MHz. We fix the timer frequency for all SoCs by linking the Timer model to the SCU model. The APB frequency driving the timers is now the one configured for the SoC. commit 1d3e65aa7ac5 ("hw/timer: Add value matching support to aspeed_timer") increased the vmstate version of aspeed.timer because the state had changed, but it also bumped the version of the VMSTATE_STRUCT_ARRAY under the aspeed.timerctrl which did not need to. Change back this version to fix migration. The previous commit improved compile time by including less of the generated QAPI headers. This is impossible for stuff defined directly in qapi-schema.json, because that ends up in headers that that pull in everything. Move everything but include directives from qapi-schema.json to new sub-module qapi/misc.json, then include just the "misc" shard where possible. It's possible everywhere, except: * monitor.c needs qmp-command.h to get qmp_init_marshal() * monitor.c, ui/vnc.c and the generated qapi-event-FOO.c need qapi-event.h to get enum QAPIEvent Perhaps we'll get rid of those some other day. Adding a type to qapi/migration.json now recompiles some 120 instead of 2300 out of 5100 objects.
