2024-09-13hw: Use device_class_set_legacy_reset() instead of opencodingPeter Maydell

2024-05-03sparc: switch boards to "default y"Paolo Bonzini

2024-02-22hw/sparc/leon3: Fix wrong usage of DO_UPCAST macroThomas Huth
leon3.c currently fails to compile with some compilers when the -Wvla option has been enabled: ../hw/sparc/leon3.c: In function ‘leon3_cpu_reset’: ../hw/sparc/leon3.c:153:5: error: ISO C90 forbids variable length array ‘offset_must_be_zero’ [-Werror=vla] 153 | ResetData *s = (ResetData *)DO_UPCAST(ResetData, info[id], info); | ^~~~~~~~~ cc1: all warnings being treated as errors Looking at this code, the DO_UPCAST macro is indeed used in a wrong way here: DO_UPCAST is supposed to check that the second parameter is the first entry of the struct that the first parameter indicates, but since we use and index into the info[] array, this of course cannot work. The intention here was likely rather to use the container_of() macro instead, so switch the code accordingly. 2022-05-09Warn user if the vga flag is passed but no vga device is createdGautam Agrawal
A global boolean variable "vga_interface_created"(declared in softmmu/globals.c) has been used to track the creation of vga interface. If the vga flag is passed in the command line "default_vga"(declared in softmmu/vl.c) variable is set to 0. To warn user, the condition checks if vga_interface_created is false and default_vga is equal to 0. If "-vga none" is passed, this patch will not warn the user regarding the creation of VGA device. The warning "A -vga option was passed but this machine type does not use that option; no VGA device has been created" is logged if vga flag is passed but no vga device is created. g_new(T, n) is neater than g_malloc(sizeof(T) * n). It's also safer, for two reasons. One, it catches multiplication overflowing size_t. 2021-09-08sun4m: fix setting CPU id when more than one CPU is presentMark Cave-Ayland
Commit 24f675cd3b ("sparc/sun4m: Use start-powered-off CPUState property") changed the sun4m CPU reset code to use the start-powered-off property and so split the creation of the CPU into separate instantiation and realization phases to enable the new start-powered-off property to be set. This accidentally broke sun4m machines with more than one CPU present since sparc_cpu_realizefn() sets a default CPU id, and now that realization occurs after calling cpu_sparc_set_id() in cpu_devinit() the CPU id gets reset back to the default instead of being uniquely encoded based upon the CPU number. As soon as another CPU is brought online, the OS gets confused between them and promptly panics. Resolve the issue by moving the cpu_sparc_set_id() call in cpu_devinit() to after the point where the CPU device has been realized as before. 2021-05-04hw/sparc*: Move cpu_check_irqs() to target/sparc/Philippe Mathieu-Daudé
Since cpu_check_irqs() doesn't reference to anything outside of CPUSPARCState, it better belongs to the architectural code in target/, rather than the hardware specific code in hw/. Note: while we moved the trace events, we don't rename them. 2021-03-19hw: Replace anti-social QOM type namesMarkus Armbruster
Several QOM type names contain ',': ARM,bitband-memory etraxfs, pic etraxfs, serial etraxfs, timer fsl,imx25 fsl,imx31 fsl,imx6 fsl,imx6ul fsl,imx7 grlib, ahbpnp grlib, apbpnp grlib, apbuart grlib, gptimer grlib, irqmp qemu, register SUNW,bpp SUNW,CS4231 SUNW,DBRI SUNW,DBRI.prom SUNW,fdtwo SUNW,sx SUNW,tcx xilinx,zynq_slcr xlnx, zynqmp xlnx,zynqmp-pmu-soc xlnx,zynq-xadc These are all device types. They can't be plugged with -device / device_add, except for xlnx,zynqmp-pmu-soc, and I doubt that one actually works. They *can* be used with -device / device_add to request help. Usability is poor, though: you have to double the comma, like this: $ qemu-system-x86_64 -device SUNW,,fdtwo, help Trap for the unwary. The fact that this was broken in device-introspect-test for more than six years until commit e27bd49876 fixed it demonstrates that "the unwary" includes seasoned developers. One QOM type name contains ' ': "ICH9 SMB". Because having to remember just one way to quote would be too easy. Rename the "SUNW,FOO types to "sun-FOO". Summarily replace ',' and ' ' by '-' in the other type names. 2021-01-06sun4m: don't connect two qemu_irqs directly to the same inputMark Cave-Ayland
The sun4m board code connects both of the IRQ outputs of each ESCC to the same slavio input qemu_irq. Connecting two qemu_irqs outputs directly to the same input is not valid as it produces subtly wrong behaviour (for instance if both the IRQ lines are high, and then one goes low, the PIC input will see this as a high-to-low transition even though the second IRQ line should still be holding it high). This kind of wiring needs an explicitly created OR gate; add one. 2021-01-06hw/sparc: Make grlib-irqmp device handle its own inbound IRQ linesPeter Maydell
Currently the GRLIB_IRQMP device is used in one place (the leon3 board), but instead of the device providing inbound gpio lines for the board to wire up, the board code itself calls qemu_allocate_irqs() with the handler function being a set_irq function defined in the code for the device. Refactor this into the standard setup of a device having input gpio lines. This fixes a trivial Coverity memory leak report (the leon3 board code leaks the IRQ array returned from qemu_allocate_irqs()).
