2019-09-18trace: Remove trailing newline in eventsPhilippe Mathieu-Daudé
While the tracing framework does not forbid trailing newline in events format string, using them lead to confuse output. It is the responsibility of the backend to properly end an event line. Some of our formats have trailing newlines, remove them. 2019-03-22trace-events: Shorten file names in commentsMarkus Armbruster
We spell out sub/dir/ in sub/dir/trace-events' comments pointing to source files. That's because when trace-events got split up, the comments were moved verbatim. Delete the sub/dir/ part from these comments. Gets rid of several misspellings. 2019-01-11scsi: esp: Defer command completion until previous interrupts have been handledGuenter Roeck
The guest OS reads RSTAT, RSEQ, and RINTR, and expects those registers to reflect a consistent state. However, it is possible that the registers can change after RSTAT was read, but before RINTR is read, when esp_command_complete() is called. Guest OS qemu -------- ---- [handle interrupt] Read RSTAT esp_command_complete() RSTAT = STAT_ST esp_dma_done() RSTAT |= STAT_TC RSEQ = 0 RINTR = INTR_BS Read RSEQ Read RINTR RINTR = 0 RSTAT &= ~STAT_TC RSEQ = SEQ_CD The guest OS would then try to handle INTR_BS combined with an old value of RSTAT. This sometimes resulted in lost events, spurious interrupts, guest OS confusion, and stalled SCSI operations. A typical guest error log (observed with various versions of Linux) looks as follows. scsi host1: Spurious irq, sreg=13. ... scsi host1: Aborting command [84531f10:2a] scsi host1: Current command [f882eea8:35] scsi host1: Queued command [84531f10:2a] scsi host1: Active command [f882eea8:35] scsi host1: Dumping command log scsi host1: ent[15] CMD val[44] sreg[90] seqreg[00] sreg2[00] ireg[20] ss[00] event[0c] scsi host1: ent[16] CMD val[01] sreg[90] seqreg[00] sreg2[00] ireg[20] ss[02] event[0c] scsi host1: ent[17] CMD val[43] sreg[90] seqreg[00] sreg2[00] ireg[20] ss[02] event[0c] scsi host1: ent[18] EVENT val[0d] sreg[92] seqreg[04] sreg2[00] ireg[18] ss[00] event[0c] ... 2017-08-01trace-events: fix code style: print 0x before hex numbersVladimir Sementsov-Ogievskiy
The only exception are groups of numers separated by symbols '.', ' ', ':', '/', like 'ab.09.7d'. This patch is made by the following: > find . -name trace-events | xargs python script.py where script.py is the following python script: ========================= #!/usr/bin/env python import sys import re import fileinput rhex = '%[-+ *.0-9]*(?:[hljztL]|ll|hh)?(?:x|X|"\s*PRI[xX][^"]*"?)' rgroup = re.compile('((?:' + rhex + '[.:/ ])+' + rhex + ')') rbad = re.compile('(?<!0x)' + rhex) files = sys.argv[1:] for fname in files: for line in fileinput.input(fname, inplace=True): arr = re.split(rgroup, line) for i in range(0, len(arr), 2): arr[i] = re.sub(rbad, '0x\g<0>', arr[i]) sys.stdout.write(''.join(arr)) ========================= Signed-off-by: Vladimir Sementsov-Ogievskiy <vsementsov@virtuozzo.com> Reviewed-by: Stefan Hajnoczi <stefanha@redhat.com> Acked-by: Cornelia Huck <cohuck@redhat.com> Message-id: 20170731160135.12101-5-vsementsov@virtuozzo.com Signed-off-by: Stefan Hajnoczi <stefanha@redhat.com>
2017-08-01trace-events: fix code style: %# -> 0x%Vladimir Sementsov-Ogievskiy
In trace format '#' flag of printf is forbidden. Fix it to '0x%'. This patch is created by the following: check that we have a problem > find . -name trace-events | xargs grep '%#' | wc -l 56 check that there are no cases with additional printf flags before '#' > find . -name trace-events | xargs grep "%[-+ 0'I]+#" | wc -l 0 check that there are no wrong usage of '#' and '0x' together > find . -name trace-events | xargs grep '0x%#' | wc -l 0 fix the problem > find . -name trace-events | xargs sed -i 's/%#/0x%/g' [Eric Blake noted that xargs grep '%[-+ 0'I]+#' should be xargs grep "%[-+ 0'I]+#" instead so the shell quoting is correct. --Stefan] Signed-off-by: Vladimir Sementsov-Ogievskiy <vsementsov@virtuozzo.com> Reviewed-by: Stefan Hajnoczi <stefanha@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Eric Blake <eblake@redhat.com> Message-id: 20170731160135.12101-3-vsementsov@virtuozzo.com Signed-off-by: Stefan Hajnoczi <stefanha@redhat.com>
