2018-07-02hw/s390x: Use the IEC binary prefix definitionsPhilippe Mathieu-Daudé
It eases code review, unit is explicit. Patch generated using: $ git grep -E '(1024|2048|4096|8192|(<<|>>).?(10|20|30))' hw/ include/hw/ and modified manually. 2018-03-02qapi: Empty out qapi-schema.jsonMarkus Armbruster
The previous commit improved compile time by including less of the generated QAPI headers. This is impossible for stuff defined directly in qapi-schema.json, because that ends up in headers that that pull in everything. Move everything but include directives from qapi-schema.json to new sub-module qapi/misc.json, then include just the "misc" shard where possible. It's possible everywhere, except: * monitor.c needs qmp-command.h to get qmp_init_marshal() * monitor.c, ui/vnc.c and the generated qapi-event-FOO.c need qapi-event.h to get enum QAPIEvent Perhaps we'll get rid of those some other day. Adding a type to qapi/migration.json now recompiles some 120 instead of 2300 out of 5100 objects. 2018-02-09Include qapi/qmp/qdict.h exactly where neededMarkus Armbruster
This cleanup makes the number of objects depending on qapi/qmp/qdict.h drop from 4550 (out of 4743) to 368 in my "build everything" tree. For qapi/qmp/qobject.h, the number drops from 4552 to 390. 2017-08-30s390x/s390-skeys: Mark the storage key devices with user_creatable = falseThomas Huth
QEMU currently aborts if the user tries to create a skey device: $ s390x-softmmu/qemu-system-s390x -nographic -device s390-skeys-qemu qemu-system-s390x: hw/s390x/s390-skeys.c:30: s390_get_skeys_device: Assertion `ss' failed. We can replace the four remaining calls of register_savevm() by calls to register_savevm_live(). So we can remove the function and as we don't allocate anymore the ops pointer with g_new0() we don't have to free it then. 2017-06-01migration: Split qemu-file.hJuan Quintela
Split the file into public and internal interfaces. I have to rename the external one because we can't have two include files with the same name in the same directory. Build system gets confused. 2016-05-26s390: use FILE instead of QEMUFile for creating text fileDaniel P. Berrange
The s390 skeys monitor command needs to write out a plain text file. Currently it is using the QEMUFile class for this, but work is ongoing to refactor QEMUFile and eliminate much code related to it. The only feature qemu_fopen() gives over fopen() is support for QEMU FD passing, but this can be achieved with qemu_open() + fdopen() too. Switching to regular stdio FILE APIs avoids the need to sprintf via an intermedia buffer which slightly simplifies the code. Reviewed-by: Eric Blake <eblake@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel P. 2016-05-19s390x: reorganize CSS bits between cpu.h and other headersPaolo Bonzini
Move cpu_inject_* to the only C file where they are used. Move ioinst.h declarations that need S390CPU to cpu.h, to make ioinst.h independent of cpu.h. Move channel declarations that only need SubchDev from cpu.h to css.h, to make more channel users independent of cpu.h. 2016-01-13error: Use error_report_err() instead of monitor_printf()Markus Armbruster
Both error_report_err() and monitor_printf() print to the same destination when monitor_printf() is used correctly, i.e. within an HMP monitor. Elsewhere, monitor_printf() does nothing, while error_report_err() reports to stderr. Most changed functions are HMP command handlers. These should only run within an HMP monitor. The one exception is bdrv_password_cb(), which should also only run within an HMP monitor. Four command handlers prefix the error message with the command name: balloon, migrate_set_capability, migrate_set_parameter, migrate. Pointless, drop. Unlike monitor_printf(), error_report_err() uses the error whole instead of just its message obtained with error_get_pretty(). This avoids suppressing its hint (see commit 50b7b00). Example: (qemu) device_add ivshmem,id=666 Parameter 'id' expects an identifier Identifiers consist of letters, digits, '-', '.', '_', starting with a letter. Try "help device_add" for more information The "Identifiers consist of..." line is new with this patch.
