2022-03-21Use g_new() & friends where that makes obvious senseMarkus Armbruster
g_new(T, n) is neater than g_malloc(sizeof(T) * n). It's also safer, for two reasons. One, it catches multiplication overflowing size_t. Two, it returns T * rather than void *, which lets the compiler catch more type errors. This commit only touches allocations with size arguments of the form sizeof(T). Patch created mechanically with: $ spatch --in-place --sp-file scripts/coccinelle/use-g_new-etc.cocci \ --macro-file scripts/cocci-macro-file.h FILES... 2021-10-05hw/misc: applesmc: use host osk as default on macsPedro Tôrres
When running on a Mac, QEMU is able to get the host OSK and use it as the default value for the AppleSMC device. The OSK query operation doesn't require administrator privileges and can be executed by any user on the system. This patch is based on open-source code from Apple, just like the implementation from VirtualBox. There is no "version 2" of the "Lesser" General Public License. It is either "GPL version 2.0" or "Lesser GPL version 2.1". This patch replaces all occurrences of "Lesser GPL version 2" with "Lesser GPL version 2.1" in comment section. This patch contains all the files, whose maintainer I could not get from ‘get_maintainer.pl’ script. 2019-08-16Include hw/qdev-properties.h lessMarkus Armbruster
In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/qdev-properties.h triggers a recompile of some 2700 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h). Many places including hw/qdev-properties.h (directly or via hw/qdev.h) actually need only hw/qdev-core.h. Include hw/qdev-core.h there instead. hw/qdev.h is actually pointless: all it does is include hw/qdev-core.h and hw/qdev-properties.h, which in turn includes hw/qdev-core.h. Replace the remaining uses of hw/qdev.h by hw/qdev-properties.h. While there, delete a few superfluous inclusions of hw/qdev-core.h. Touching hw/qdev-properties.h now recompiles some 1200 objects. The previous commits have left only the declaration of hw_error() in hw/hw.h. This permits dropping most of its inclusions. Touching it now recompiles less than 200 objects. 2017-09-19Convert single line fprintf(.../n) to warn_report()Alistair Francis
Convert all the single line uses of fprintf(stderr, "warning:"..."\n"... to use warn_report() instead. This helps standardise on a single method of printing warnings to the user. All of the warnings were changed using this command: find ./* -type f -exec sed -i \ 's|fprintf(.*".*warning[,:] \(.*\)\\n"\(.*\));|warn_report("\1"\2);|Ig' \ {} + Some of the lines were manually edited to reduce the line length to below 80 charecters. The #include lines were manually updated to allow the code to compile. As of release 10.12.4, OS X (Sierra) refuses to boot unless the AppleSMC supports an additional I/O port, expected to provide an error status code. Update the [cmd|data]_write() and data_read() methods to implement the required state machine, and add I/O region & methods to handle access to the error port. 2014-01-26Add DSDT node for AppleSMCGabriel L. Somlo
AppleSMC (-device isa-applesmc) is required to boot OS X guests. OS X expects a SMC node to be present in the ACPI DSDT. This patch adds a SMC node to the DSDT, and dynamically patches the return value of SMC._STA to either 0x0B if the chip is present, or otherwise to 0x00, before booting the guest.
