2018-07-02loader: Check access size when calling rom_ptr() to avoid crashesThomas Huth
The rom_ptr() function allows direct access to the ROM blobs that we load during startup. However, there are currently no checks for the size of the accesses, so it's currently possible to crash QEMU for example with: $ echo "Insane in the mainframe" > /tmp/test.txt $ s390x-softmmu/qemu-system-s390x -kernel /tmp/test.txt -append xyz Segmentation fault (core dumped) $ s390x-softmmu/qemu-system-s390x -kernel /tmp/test.txt -initrd /tmp/test.txt Segmentation fault (core dumped) $ echo -n HdrS > /tmp/hdr.txt $ sparc64-softmmu/qemu-system-sparc64 -kernel /tmp/hdr.txt -initrd /tmp/hdr.txt Segmentation fault (core dumped) We need a possibility to check the size of the ROM area that we want to access, thus let's add a size parameter to the rom_ptr() function to avoid these problems. 2018-06-28hw/mips/jazz: create ESP device directly via qdevMark Cave-Ayland
MIPS jazz is the last user of the legacy esp_init() function so move creation of the ESP device over to use qdev. 2018-06-27hw/mips/mips_malta: don't make bios region 'nomigrate'Peter Maydell
Currently we use memory_region_init_rom_nomigrate() to create the "bios.1fc" memory region, and we don't manually register it with vmstate_register_ram(). This currently means that its contents are migrated but as a ram block whose name is the empty string; in future it may mean they are not migrated at all. Use memory_region_init_ram() instead. 2018-04-26serial-isa: Use MAX_ISA_SERIAL_PORTS instead of MAX_SERIAL_PORTSPeter Maydell
The ISA serial port handling in serial-isa.c imposes a limit of 4 serial ports. This is because we only know of 4 IO port and IRQ settings for them, and is unrelated to the generic MAX_SERIAL_PORTS limit, though they happen to both be set at 4 currently. 2017-12-05pci: Rename root bus initialization functions for clarityDavid Gibson
pci_bus_init(), pci_bus_new_inplace(), pci_bus_new() and pci_register_bus() are misleadingly named. They're not used for initializing *any* PCI bus, but only for a root PCI bus. Non-root buses - i.e. ones under a logical PCI to PCI bridge - are instead created with a direct qbus_create_inplace() (see pci_bridge_initfn()). This patch renames the functions to make it clear they're only used for a root bus. Signed-off-by: David Gibson <david@gibson.dropbear.id.au> Reviewed-by: Michael S. 2017-10-27mips: use object_new() instead of gnew()+object_initialize()Igor Mammedov
object_initialize() is intended for inplace initialization of objects, but here it's first allocated with g_new0() and then initialized with object_initialize(). QEMU already has API to do this (object_new), so do object creation with suitable for usecase API. 2017-10-15pci: Add INTERFACE_CONVENTIONAL_PCI_DEVICE to Conventional PCI devicesEduardo Habkost
Add INTERFACE_CONVENTIONAL_PCI_DEVICE to all direct subtypes of TYPE_PCI_DEVICE, except: 1) The ones that already have INTERFACE_PCIE_DEVICE set: * base-xhci * e1000e * nvme * pvscsi * vfio-pci * virtio-pci * vmxnet3 2) base-pci-bridge Not all PCI bridges are Conventional PCI devices, so INTERFACE_CONVENTIONAL_PCI_DEVICE is added only to the subtypes that are actually Conventional PCI: * dec-21154-p2p-bridge * i82801b11-bridge * pbm-bridge * pci-bridge The direct subtypes of base-pci-bridge not touched by this patch are: * xilinx-pcie-root: Already marked as PCIe-only. * pcie-pci-bridge: Already marked as PCIe-only. * pcie-port: all non-abstract subtypes of pcie-port are already marked as PCIe-only devices. 3) megasas-base Not all megasas devices are Conventional PCI devices, so the interface names are added to the subclasses registered by megasas_register_types(), according to information in the megasas_devices[] array. "megasas-gen2" already implements INTERFACE_PCIE_DEVICE, so add INTERFACE_CONVENTIONAL_PCI_DEVICE only to "megasas".
