2019-08-16Include hw/qdev-properties.h lessMarkus Armbruster
In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/qdev-properties.h triggers a recompile of some 2700 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h). Many places including hw/qdev-properties.h (directly or via hw/qdev.h) actually need only hw/qdev-core.h. Include hw/qdev-core.h there instead. hw/qdev.h is actually pointless: all it does is include hw/qdev-core.h and hw/qdev-properties.h, which in turn includes hw/qdev-core.h. Replace the remaining uses of hw/qdev.h by hw/qdev-properties.h. While there, delete a few superfluous inclusions of hw/qdev-core.h. Touching hw/qdev-properties.h now recompiles some 1200 objects. 2019-08-16Include hw/hw.h exactly where neededMarkus Armbruster
In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/hw.h triggers a recompile of some 2600 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h). The previous commits have left only the declaration of hw_error() in hw/hw.h. This permits dropping most of its inclusions. Touching it now recompiles less than 200 objects. 2019-08-16Include migration/vmstate.h lessMarkus Armbruster
In my "build everything" tree, changing migration/vmstate.h triggers a recompile of some 2700 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h). hw/hw.h supposedly includes it for convenience. Several other headers include it just to get VMStateDescription. The previous commit made that unnecessary. Include migration/vmstate.h only where it's still needed. Touching it now recompiles only some 1600 objects. 2019-08-16Include hw/irq.h a lot lessMarkus Armbruster
In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/irq.h triggers a recompile of some 5400 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h). hw/hw.h supposedly includes it for convenience. Several other headers include it just to get qemu_irq and.or qemu_irq_handler. Move the qemu_irq and qemu_irq_handler typedefs from hw/irq.h to qemu/typedefs.h, and then include hw/irq.h only where it's still needed. Touching it now recompiles only some 500 objects. 2017-06-30target-ppc: Enable open-pic timers to count and generate interruptsAaron Larson
Previously QEMU open-pic implemented the 4 open-pic timers including all timer registers, but the timers did not "count" or generate any interrupts. The patch makes the timers both count and generate interrupts. The timer clock frequency is fixed at 25MHZ. -- Responding to V2 patch comments. - Simplify clock frequency logic and commentary. - Remove camelCase variables. - Timer objects now created at init rather than lazily. 2017-06-28vmstate: error hint for failed equal checksHalil Pasic
In some cases a failing VMSTATE_*_EQUAL does not mean we detected a bug, but it's actually the best we can do. Especially in these cases a verbose error message is required. Let's introduce infrastructure for specifying a error hint to be used if equal check fails. Let's do this by adding a parameter to the _EQUAL macros called _err_hint. Also change all current users to pass NULL as last parameter so nothing changes for them. 2017-06-06target-ppc: Fix openpic timer read register offsetAaron Larson
openpic_tmr_read() is incorrectly computing register offset of the TCCR, TBCR, TVPR, and TDR registers when accessing the open pic timer registers. Specifically the offset of timer registers for openpic_tmr_read() is not accounting for the timer frequency reporting register (TFFR) which is the first register in the "tmr" memory region. openpic_tmr_write() *is* correctly computing the offset by adding 0x10f0 to the address prior to computing the register index. This patch instead subtracts 0x10 in both the read and write routines and eliminates some other gratuitous differences between the functions. 2016-03-22include/qemu/osdep.h: Don't include qapi/error.hMarkus Armbruster
Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h, compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a similar job to this file and are under similar constraints." qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of 100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need. Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List. Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h, sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h comment quoted above similarly. This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one. Signed-off-by: Markus Armbruster <armbru@redhat.com> [Fix compilation without the spice devel packages. - Paolo] Signed-off-by: Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com>

2015-06-22qerror: Clean up QERR_ macros to expand into a single stringMarkus Armbruster
These macros expand into error class enumeration constant, comma, string. Unclean. Has been that way since commit 13f59ae. The error class is always ERROR_CLASS_GENERIC_ERROR since the previous commit. Clean up as follows: * Prepend every use of a QERR_ macro by ERROR_CLASS_GENERIC_ERROR, and delete it from the QERR_ macro. 2014-06-16openpic: Reset IRQ source private membersPaul Janzen
The openpic emulation code maintains an allowable-CPU's bitmap ("destmask") for each IRQ source which is calculated from the IDR register value whenever the guest OS writes to it. However, if the guest OS relies on the system to set the IDR register to a default value at reset, and does not write IDR, then destmask does not get updated, and interrupts do not get propagated to the guest. Additionally, if an IRQ source is marked as critical, the source's internal "output" and "nomask" fields are not correctly reset when the PIC is reset. Fix both these issues by calling write_IRQreg_idr from within openpic_reset, instead of simply setting the IDR register to the specified idr_reset value.
