2019-08-16Include hw/qdev-properties.h lessMarkus Armbruster
In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/qdev-properties.h triggers a recompile of some 2700 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h). Many places including hw/qdev-properties.h (directly or via hw/qdev.h) actually need only hw/qdev-core.h. Include hw/qdev-core.h there instead. hw/qdev.h is actually pointless: all it does is include hw/qdev-core.h and hw/qdev-properties.h, which in turn includes hw/qdev-core.h. Replace the remaining uses of hw/qdev.h by hw/qdev-properties.h. While there, delete a few superfluous inclusions of hw/qdev-core.h. Touching hw/qdev-properties.h now recompiles some 1200 objects. In my "build everything" tree, changing hw/hw.h triggers a recompile of some 2600 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h). The previous commits have left only the declaration of hw_error() in hw/hw.h. This permits dropping most of its inclusions. Touching it now recompiles less than 200 objects. In my "build everything" tree, changing migration/vmstate.h triggers a recompile of some 2700 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h). hw/hw.h supposedly includes it for convenience. Several other headers include it just to get VMStateDescription. The previous commit made that unnecessary. Include migration/vmstate.h only where it's still needed. 2014-10-20hw: Convert from BlockDriverState to BlockBackend, mostlyMarkus Armbruster
Device models should access their block backends only through the block-backend.h API. Convert them, and drop direct includes of inappropriate headers. Just four uses of BlockDriverState are left: * The Xen paravirtual block device backend (xen_disk.c) opens images itself when set up via xenbus, bypassing blockdev.c. I figure it should go through qmp_blockdev_add() instead. * Device model "usb-storage" prompts for keys. No other device model does, and this one probably shouldn't do it, either. * ide_issue_trim_cb() uses bdrv_aio_discard() instead of blk_aio_discard() because it fishes its backend out of a BlockAIOCB, which has only the BlockDriverState. * PC87312State has an unused BlockDriverState[] member. Many of these should be cleaned up with proper qdev-/QOM-ification. 2013-01-10Make all static TypeInfos constAndreas Färber
Since 39bffca2030950ef6efe57c2fac8327a45ae1015 (qdev: register all types natively through QEMU Object Model), TypeInfo as used in the common, non-iterative pattern is no longer amended with information and should therefore be const. Fix the documented QOM examples: sed -i 's/static TypeInfo/static const TypeInfo/g' include/qom/object.h Since frequently the wrong examples are being copied by contributors of new devices, fix all types in the tree: sed -i 's/^static TypeInfo/static const TypeInfo/g' */*.c sed -i 's/^static TypeInfo/static const TypeInfo/g' */*/*.c This also avoids to piggy-back these changes onto real functional changes or other refactorings. 2012-02-03qdev: register all types natively through QEMU Object ModelAnthony Liguori
This was done in a mostly automated fashion. I did it in three steps and then rebased it into a single step which avoids repeatedly touching every file in the tree. The first step was a sed-based addition of the parent type to the subclass registration functions. The second step was another sed-based removal of subclass registration functions while also adding virtual functions from the base class into a class_init function as appropriate. Finally, a python script was used to convert the DeviceInfo structures and qdev_register_subclass functions to TypeInfo structures, class_init functions, and type_register_static calls. We are almost fully converted to QOM after this commit. Signed-off-by: Anthony Liguori <aliguori@us.ibm.com>
