2016-04-12ide: really restart pending and in-flight atapi dmaPavel Butsykin
Restart of ATAPI DMA used to be unreachable, because the request to do so wasn't indicated in bus->error_status due to the lack of spare bits, and ide_restart_bh() would return early doing nothing. This patch makes use of the observation that not all bit combinations were possible in ->error_status. In particular, IDE_RETRY_READ only made sense together with IDE_RETRY_DMA or IDE_RETRY_PIO. This allows to re-use IDE_RETRY_READ alone as an indicator of ATAPI DMA restart request. To makes things more uniform, ATAPI DMA gets its own value for ->dma_cmd. As a means against confusion, macros are added to test the state of ->error_status. The patch fixes the restart of both in-flight and pending ATAPI DMA, following the scheme similar to that of IDE DMA. However, as the contents of the ->io_buffer is preserved, it looks safe to just re-evaluate it and dispatch the ATAPI command again. PIO read requests on the ATAPI interface used to be sync blk requests. This has two significant drawbacks. First the main loop hangs util an I/O request is completed and secondly if the I/O request does not complete (e.g. due to an unresponsive storage) Qemu hangs completely. Note: Due to possible race conditions requests during an ongoing elementary transfer are still sync. 2015-09-18atapi: abort transfers with 0 byte limitsJohn Snow
We're supposed to abort on transfers like this, unless we fill Word 125 of our IDENTIFY data with a default transfer size, which we don't currently do. This is an ATA error, not a SCSI/ATAPI one. See ATA8-ACS3 sections 7.17.6.49 or 7.21.5. If we don't do this, QEMU will loop forever trying to transfer zero bytes, which isn't particularly useful. 2015-02-06atapi migration: Throw recoverable error to avoid recoveryDr. David Alan Gilbert
(With the previous atapi_dma flag recovery) If migration happens between the ATAPI command being written and the bmdma being started, the DMA is dropped. Eventually the guest times out and recovers, but that can take many seconds. (This is rare, on a pingpong reading the CD continuously I hit this about ~1/30-1/50 migrates) I don't think we've got enough state to be able to recover safely at this point, so I throw a 'medium error, no seek complete' that I'm assuming guests will try and recover from an apparently dirty CD. OK, it's a hack, the real solution is probably to push a lot of ATAPI state into the migration stream, but this is a fix that works with no stream changes. Tested only on Linux (both RHEL5 (pre-libata) and RHEL7). 2015-01-13ide: Implement VPD response for ATAPIJohn Snow
SCSI devices have multiple kinds of queries they need to respond to, as defined in the "cmd inquiry" section in MMC-6 and SPC-3. Relevent sections: MMC-6 revision 2g: Non-VPD response data and pointer to SPC-3; Section 6.8 "Inquiry Command" SPC-3 revision 23: Inquiry command and error handling: Section 6.4 "INQUIRY command" VPD data pages format: Section 7.6 "Vital product data parameters" We implement these Vital Product Data queries for SCSI, but not for ATAPI through IDE. The result is that if you are looking for the WWN identifier via tools such as sg3_utils, you will be unable to query our CD/DVD rom device to obtain it. This patch adds the minimum number of mandatory responses as defined by SPC-3, which include the "supported pages" response (page 0x00) and the "Device Identification" response (page 0x83). It also correctly responds when it receives a request for an illegal page to improve error output from related tools. The Device ID page contains an arbitrary list of identification strings of various formats; the ID strings included in this patch were chosen to mimic those provided by the libata driver when emulating this SCSI query (model, serial, and wwn when present.) 2014-10-20hw: Convert from BlockDriverState to BlockBackend, mostlyMarkus Armbruster
Device models should access their block backends only through the block-backend.h API. Convert them, and drop direct includes of inappropriate headers. Just four uses of BlockDriverState are left: * The Xen paravirtual block device backend (xen_disk.c) opens images itself when set up via xenbus, bypassing blockdev.c. I figure it should go through qmp_blockdev_add() instead. * Device model "usb-storage" prompts for keys. No other device model does, and this one probably shouldn't do it, either. * ide_issue_trim_cb() uses bdrv_aio_discard() instead of blk_aio_discard() because it fishes its backend out of a BlockAIOCB, which has only the BlockDriverState. * PC87312State has an unused BlockDriverState[] member. 2014-09-22ide/atapi: Mark non-data commands as completeJohn Snow
When the command completion code in IDE and AHCI was unified to put all command completion inside of a callback, "cmd_done," we neglected to ensure that all AHCI/ATAPI command paths would eventually register as finished. for the PCI interface to IDE this is not a problem because cmd_done is a nop, but the AHCI implementation needs to send a D2H_REG_FIS and interrupt back to the guest to inform of completion. This patch adds calls to ide_stop_transfer, which calls ide_cmd_done, inside of ide_atapi_cmd_ok and ide_atapi_cmd_error. This fixes regressions observed by trying to boot QEMU with a Fedora 20 live CD under Q35/AHCI, which uses ATAPI command 0x00, which is a status check that may cause a hang because we never complete, and ATAPI command 0x56, which is unsupported by our current implementation and results in an error that we never report back to the guest. 2014-09-10block: Make the block accounting functions operate on BlockAcctStatsBenoît Canet
This is the next step for decoupling block accounting functions from BlockDriverState. In a future commit the BlockAcctStats structure will be moved from BlockDriverState to the device models structures. Note that bdrv_get_stats was introduced so device models can retrieve the BlockAcctStats structure of a BlockDriverState without being aware of it's layout. This function should go away when BlockAcctStats will be embedded in the device models structures. Mode page 2A of emulated ATAPI DVD-ROM should have page length 0x14 like SCSI CD-ROM, rather than 0x12. Mode page length is off by 8, as it should contain the length of the payload after the first two bytes. MODE SENSE(6) should be thrown out of ATAPI DVD-ROM emulation. It is not specified in the ATAPI list of MMC-2, and MMC-5 prescribes to use MODE SENSE(10). Anyway, its implementation is wrong. This patch adds to scsi-disk the missing mode page 0x01 for both disk and CD-ROM drives, and mode page 0x0e for CD drives only. A few offsets were wrong in atapi.c. Also change the 2Ah mode page to expose DVD media read capabilities in the IDE cdrom. This lets you run dvd+rw-mediainfo on the virtual DVD drives. The first two bytes (after the 8-byte ATAPI header) are the mode page number and the number of bytes after the length field itself. Make this clear in the code. The AUDIO_CTL page was filled with wrong values. It is not anymore in MMC, but at least keep the values sane. The definitions in ide/internal.h are duplicates, since ATAPI commands actually come from SCSI. Use the ones in scsi-defs.h and move the missing ones there. Two exceptions: - MODE_PAGE_WRITE_PARMS conflicts with the "flexible disk geometry" page in scsi-disk.c. It is unused, so pick the latter. - GPCMD_* is left in ide/internal.h, at least for now. 2011-09-12block: Revert entanglement of bdrv_is_inserted() with tray statusMarkus Armbruster
Commit 4be9762a changed bdrv_is_inserted() to fail when the tray is open. Unfortunately, there are two different kinds of users, with conflicting needs. 1. Device models using bdrv_eject(), currently ide-cd and scsi-cd. They expect bdrv_is_inserted() to reflect the tray status. Commit 4be9762a makes them happy. 2. Code that wants to know whether a BlockDriverState has media, such as find_image_format(), bdrv_flush_all(). Commit 4be9762a makes them unhappy. In particular, it breaks flush on VM stop for media ejected by the guest. Revert the change to bdrv_is_inserted(). Check the tray status in the device models instead. Note on IDE: Since only ATAPI devices have a tray, and they don't accept ATA commands since the recent commit "ide: Reject ATA commands specific to drive kinds", checking in atapi.c suffices.
