2022-06-30hw/i2c: pmbus: Page #255 is valid page for read requests.Maheswara Kurapati
Current implementation of the pmbus core driver treats the read request for page 255 as invalid request and sets the invalid command bit (bit 7) in the STATUS_CML register. As per the PMBus specification it is a valid request. Refer to the PMBus specification, revision 1.3.1, section 11.10 PAGE, on the page 58: "Setting the PAGE to FFh means that all subsequent comands are to be applied to all outputs. Some commands, such as READ_TEMPERATURE, may use a common sensor but be available on all pages of a device. Such implementations are the decision of each device manufacturer or are specified in a PMBus Application Profile. Consult the manufacturer's documents or the Application Profile Specification as needed." For e.g., The VOUT_MODE is a valid command for page 255 for maxim 31785 device. refer to Table 1. 2022-06-22aspeed: i2c: Add new mode supportJoe Komlodi
On AST2600, I2C has a secondary mode, called "new mode", which changes the layout of registers, adds some minor behavior changes, and introduces a new way to transfer data called "packet mode". Most of the bit positions of the fields are the same between old and new mode, so we use SHARED_FIELD_XX macros to reuse most of the code between the different modes. For packet mode, most of the command behavior is the same compared to other modes, but there are some minor changes to how interrupts are handled compared to other modes. Using a register array will allow us to represent old-mode and new-mode I2C registers by using the same underlying register array, instead of adding an entire new set of variables to represent new mode. As part of this, we also do additional cleanup to use ARRAY_FIELD_ macros instead of FIELD_ macros on registers. 2022-06-09acpi: ich9-smb: add support for AcpiDevAmlIf interfaceIgor Mammedov
wire AcpiDevAmlIf interface to build ich9-smb and its slave devices AML. It will be used by followup patches to switch from creating AML in ad-hoc way to a more systematic one that will scan present devices and ask them to provide their AML code like it's done with ISA devices. This patch is a partial conversion, as it only fetches AML from slave devices attached to its I2C bus. The conversion will be completed when PCI bus is switched to use AcpiDevAmlIf and build_smb0() could be dropped. 2022-03-21Use g_new() & friends where that makes obvious senseMarkus Armbruster
g_new(T, n) is neater than g_malloc(sizeof(T) * n). It's also safer, for two reasons. One, it catches multiplication overflowing size_t. Two, it returns T * rather than void *, which lets the compiler catch more type errors. This commit only touches allocations with size arguments of the form sizeof(T). 2022-02-21Kconfig: Add I2C_DEVICES device groupPeter Maydell
Currently there is no way for a board model's Kconfig stanza to say "I have an i2c bus which the user can plug an i2c device into, build all the free-standing i2c devices". The Kconfig mechanism for this is the "device group". Add an I2C_DEVICES group along the same lines as the existing PCI_DEVICES. Simple free-standing i2c devices which a user might plausibly want to be able to plug in on the QEMU commandline should have default y if I2C_DEVICES and board models which have an i2c bus that is user-accessible should use imply I2C_DEVICES to cause those pluggable devices to be built. In this commit we mark only a fairly conservative set of i2c devices as belonging to the I2C_DEVICES group: the simple sensors and RTCs (not including PMBus devices or devices which need GPIO lines to be connected). Introduce an AspeedI2CBus SysBusDevice model and attach the associated memory region and IRQ to the newly instantiated objects. Before this change, the I2C bus IRQs were all attached to the SysBusDevice model of the I2C controller. Adapt the AST2600 SoC realize routine to take into account this change. 2021-07-29i2c/smbus_eeprom: Add feature bit to SPD dataBALATON Zoltan
Add the differential clock input feature bit to the generated SPD data. Most guests don't seem to care but pegasos2 firmware version 1.2 checks for this bit and stops with unsupported module type error if it's not present. Since this feature is likely present on real memory modules add it in the general code rather than patching the generated SPD data in pegasos2 board only. The pca954x is an i2c mux, and this adds support for two variants of this device: the pca9546 and pca9548. This device is very common on BMCs to route a different channel to each PCIe i2c bus downstream from the BMC. At the start of an i2c transaction, the i2c bus searches its list of children to identify which devices correspond to the address (or broadcast). Now the I2CSlave device has a method "match" that encapsulates the lookup behavior. This allows the behavior to be changed to support devices, such as i2c muxes. 2021-02-16hw/i2c: Implement NPCM7XX SMBus Module FIFO ModeHao Wu
This patch implements the FIFO mode of the SMBus module. In FIFO, the user transmits or receives at most 16 bytes at a time. The FIFO mode allows the module to transmit large amount of data faster than single byte mode. Since we only added the device in a patch that is only a few commits away in the same patch set. We do not increase the VMstate version number in this special case. This commit implements the single-byte mode of the SMBus. Each Nuvoton SoC has 16 System Management Bus (SMBus). These buses compliant with SMBus and I2C protocol. This patch implements the single-byte mode of the SMBus. In this mode, the user sends or receives a byte each time. The SMBus device transmits it to the underlying i2c device and sends an interrupt back to the QEMU guest. 2020-08-21trace: switch position of headers to what Meson requiresPaolo Bonzini
Meson doesn't enjoy the same flexibility we have with Make in choosing the include path. In particular the tracing headers are using $(build_root)/$(<D). In order to keep the include directives unchanged, the simplest solution is to generate headers with patterns like "trace/trace-audio.h" and place forwarding headers in the source tree such that for example "audio/trace.h" includes "trace/trace-audio.h". This patch is too ugly to be applied to the Makefiles now. It's only a way to separate the changes to the tracing header files from the Meson rewrite of the tracing logic.
