2019-07-04virtio: add "use-started" propertyXie Yongji
In order to avoid migration issues, we introduce a "use-started" property to the base virtio device to indicate whether use "started" flag or not. This property will be true by default and set to false when machine type <= 4.0. 2019-05-20vhost-user-blk: Add support to reconnect backendXie Yongji
Since we now support the message VHOST_USER_GET_INFLIGHT_FD and VHOST_USER_SET_INFLIGHT_FD. The backend is able to restart safely because it can track inflight I/O in shared memory. This patch allows qemu to reconnect the backend after connection closed. 2019-02-05vhost-user-blk: add discard/write zeroes features supportChangpeng Liu
Linux commit 1f23816b8 "virtio_blk: add discard and write zeroes support" added the support in the Guest kernel, while here also enable the features support with vhost-user-blk driver. 2019-01-14qemu: avoid memory leak while remove diskJian Wang
Memset vhost_dev to zero in the vhost_dev_cleanup function. This causes dev.vqs to be NULL, so that vqs does not free up space when calling the g_free function. This will result in a memory leak. But you can't release vqs directly in the vhost_dev_cleanup function, because vhost_net will also call this function, and vhost_net's vqs is assigned by array. In order to solve this problem, we first save the pointer of vqs, and release the space of vqs after vhost_dev_cleanup is called. 2018-11-05vhost-user-blk: start vhost when guest kicksYongji Xie
Some old guests (before commit 7a11370e5: "virtio_blk: enable VQs early") kick virtqueue before setting VIRTIO_CONFIG_S_DRIVER_OK. This violates the virtio spec. But virtio 1.0 transitional devices support this behaviour. So we should start vhost when guest kicks in this case. 2018-05-24vhost-user: introduce shared vhost-user stateTiwei Bie
When multi queue is enabled e.g. for a virtio-net device, each queue pair will have a vhost_dev, and the only thing shared between vhost devs currently is the chardev. This patch introduces a vhost-user state structure which will be shared by all vhost devs of the same virtio device. Signed-off-by: Tiwei Bie <tiwei.bie@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Michael S. 2018-01-18vhost-user-blk: introduce a new vhost-user-blk host deviceChangpeng Liu
This commit introduces a new vhost-user device for block, it uses a chardev to connect with the backend, same with Qemu virito-blk device, Guest OS still uses the virtio-blk frontend driver. To use it, start QEMU with command line like this: qemu-system-x86_64 \ -chardev socket,id=char0,path=/path/vhost.socket \ -device vhost-user-blk-pci,chardev=char0,num-queues=2, \ bootindex=2... \ Users can use different parameters for `num-queues` and `bootindex`. Different with exist Qemu virtio-blk host device, it makes more easy for users to implement their own I/O processing logic, such as all user space I/O stack against hardware block device. It uses the new vhost messages(VHOST_USER_GET_CONFIG) to get block virtio config information from backend process.
