2017-12-05pci: Eliminate redundant PCIDevice::bus pointerDavid Gibson
The bus pointer in PCIDevice is basically redundant with QOM information. It's always initialized to the qdev_get_parent_bus(), the only difference is the type. Therefore this patch eliminates the field, instead creating a pci_get_bus() helper to do the type mangling to derive it conveniently from the QOM Device object underneath. Add INTERFACE_CONVENTIONAL_PCI_DEVICE to all direct subtypes of TYPE_PCI_DEVICE, except: 1) The ones that already have INTERFACE_PCIE_DEVICE set: * base-xhci * e1000e * nvme * pvscsi * vfio-pci * virtio-pci * vmxnet3 2) base-pci-bridge Not all PCI bridges are Conventional PCI devices, so INTERFACE_CONVENTIONAL_PCI_DEVICE is added only to the subtypes that are actually Conventional PCI: * dec-21154-p2p-bridge * i82801b11-bridge * pbm-bridge * pci-bridge The direct subtypes of base-pci-bridge not touched by this patch are: * xilinx-pcie-root: Already marked as PCIe-only. * pcie-pci-bridge: Already marked as PCIe-only. * pcie-port: all non-abstract subtypes of pcie-port are already marked as PCIe-only devices. 3) megasas-base Not all megasas devices are Conventional PCI devices, so the interface names are added to the subclasses registered by megasas_register_types(), according to information in the megasas_devices[] array. "megasas-gen2" already implements INTERFACE_PCIE_DEVICE, so add INTERFACE_CONVENTIONAL_PCI_DEVICE only to "megasas". This reverts commit 153eba4726dfa1bdfc31d1fe973b2a61b9035492. This patch prevents PCI passthrough hotplug on Xen. Even if the Xen tool stack prepares its own ACPI tables, we still rely on QEMU for hotplug ACPI notifications. cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet was introduced by commit efec3dd631d94160288392721a5f9c39e50fb2bc to replace no_user. It was supposed to be a temporary measure. When it was introduced, we had 54 cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet=true lines in the code. Today (3 years later) this number has not shrunk: we now have 57 cannot_instantiate_with_device_add_yet=true lines. I think it is safe to say it is not a temporary measure, and we won't see the flag go away soon. Instead of a long field name that misleads people to believe it is temporary, replace it a shorter and less misleading field: user_creatable. Commit f0c9d64a exposed the issue that with a xenfv machine using pci passthrough, acpi pci hotplug code was being executed by mistake. Guard calls to acpi_pcihp_device_plug_cb (and corresponding acpi_pcihp_device_unplug_cb) with a check for xen_enabled(). Without this check I am seeing an error that the bus doesn't have the acpi-pcihp-bsel property set. 2017-03-01bus: do not unref hotplug handlerMarc-André Lureau
Apparently, none of the bus owner give a reference to the hotplug handler property, do not unref it on bus release. Furthermore, a bus is allowed to be its own hotplug handler, which can be seen in qbus_set_bus_hotplug_handler() function. However, in this case, the reference can't be given to the property, or this will create a cyclic dependency and the bus will never be free. 2017-01-10memhp: don't generate memory hotplug AML if it's not enabled/supportedIgor Mammedov
That reduces DSDT by 910 bytes when memory hotplug isn't enabled. While doing so drop intermediate variables/arguments passing around ACPI_MEMORY_HOTPLUG_IO_LEN and making it local to memory_hotplug.c, hardcoding it there as it can't change. Also don't pass around ACPI_MEMORY_HOTPLUG_BASE through intermediate variables/arguments where it's not needed. Instead initialize in module static variable when MMIO region is mapped and use that within memory_hotplug.c whenever it's required. 2016-06-24pc: use new CPU hotplug interface since 2.7 machine typeIgor Mammedov
For compatibility reasons PC/Q35 will start with legacy CPU hotplug interface by default but with new CPU hotplug AML code since 2.7 machine type. That way legacy firmware that doesn't use QEMU generated ACPI tables will be able to continue using legacy CPU hotplug interface. While new machine type, with firmware supporting QEMU provided ACPI tables, will generate new CPU hotplug AML, which will switch to new CPU hotplug interface when guest OS executes its _INI method on ACPI tables loading. Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h, compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a similar job to this file and are under similar constraints." qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of 100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need. Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List. Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h, sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h comment quoted above similarly. This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. 2015-07-06piix4/ich9: do not raise SMI on ACPI enable/disable commandsPaolo Bonzini
These commands are handled entirely by QEMU. Do not raise an SMI when they happen, because Windows (at least 2008r2) expects these commands to work and (depending on the value of APMC_EN at startup) the firmware might not have installed an SMI handler. When this happens (e.g. the kernel supports SMIs, or you are using TCG, but you have used "-machine smm=off") RIP is moved to 0x38000 where there is no code to execute. Acked-by: Michael S. This PIIX4 init function has no more reason to receive a pointer to the FwCfg object. Remove the parameter from the prototype, and update callers. As a result, the pc_init1() function no longer needs to save the return value of pc_memory_init() and xen_load_linux(), which makes it more similar to pc_q35_init(). The return type & value of pc_memory_init() and xen_load_linux() are not changed themselves; maybe we'll need their return values sometime later. 2015-06-04hw/acpi: move "etc/system-states" fw_cfg file from PIIX4 to coreLaszlo Ersek
The acpi_pm1_cnt_init() core function is responsible for setting up the register block that will ultimately react to S3 and S4 requests (see acpi_pm1_cnt_write()). It makes sense to advertise this configuration to the guest firmware via an easy to parse fw_cfg file (ACPI is too complex for firmware to parse), and indeed PIIX4 does that. However, since acpi_pm1_cnt_init() is not specific to PIIX4, neither should be the fw_cfg file. This patch makes "etc/system-states" appear on all chipsets modified in the previous patch, not just PIIX4 (assuming they have fw_cfg at all). 2015-02-26acpi, piix4: Add unplug cb for piix4.Tang Chen
Memory and CPU hot unplug are both asynchronous procedures. When the unplug operation happens, unplug request cb is called first. And when guest OS finished handling unplug, unplug cb will be called to do the real removal of device. This patch adds hotunplug cb to piix4, which memory and CPU hot unplug will use it. due to recent change introduced by: "pcihp: reduce number of device check events" 'up' field is cleared right after it's read. This is incompatible with legacy BIOS ACPI code where PCNF ACPI method reads this field 32 times. To make pci_read mmio callback compatible with legacy 'up' behavior, pcihp code will need to know in which mode it runs add 'legacy_piix' field to AcpiPciHpState structure and alter register behavior accordingly.
