2021-06-14docs: recommend SCRAM-SHA-256 SASL mech instead of SHA-1 variantDaniel P. Berrangé
The SHA-256 variant better meats modern security expectations. Also warn that the password file is storing entries in clear text. Reviewed-by: Marc-André Lureau <marcandre.lureau@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel P. Berrangé <berrange@redhat.com>
2021-02-25docs: update to show preferred boolean syntax for -vncDaniel P. Berrangé
The preferred syntax is to use "foo=on|off", rather than a bare "foo" or "nofoo". The on|off syntax has been supported since -vnc switched to use QemuOpts in commit 4db14629c38611061fc19ec6927405923de84f08 Signed-off-by: Daniel P. 2021-01-29Prefer 'on' | 'off' over 'yes' | 'no' for bool optionsDaniel P. Berrangé
Update some docs and test cases to use 'on' | 'off' as the preferred value for bool options. Reviewed-by: Thomas Huth <thuth@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Philippe Mathieu-Daudé <philmd@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel P. Berrangé <berrange@redhat.com>
2020-11-20docs: Get rid of the weird _005f links in the man pageThomas Huth
The man page does not contain all the chapters from the System Emulation Users Guide, so some of the links that we've put into the qemu options descriptions can not be resolved and thus the link names are used in the man pages instead. These link names currently contain weird "_005f" letters in the middle and just do not make any sense for the users. To avoid this situation, replace the link names with more descriptive, natural text. 2020-03-06docs/system: convert Texinfo documentation to rSTPaolo Bonzini
Apart from targets.rst, which was written by hand, this is an automated conversion obtained with the following command: makeinfo --force -o - --docbook \ -D 'qemu_system_x86 QEMU_SYSTEM_X86_MACRO' \ -D 'qemu_system QEMU_SYSTEM_MACRO' \ $texi | pandoc -f docbook -t rst+smart | perl -e ' $/=undef; $_ = <>; s/^- − /- /gm; s/QEMU_SYSTEM_MACRO/|qemu_system|/g; s/QEMU_SYSTEM_X86_MACRO/|qemu_system_x86|/g; s/(?=::\n\n +\|qemu)/.. parsed-literal/g; s/:\n\n::$/::/gm; print' > $rst In addition, the following changes were made manually: - target-i386.rst and target-mips.rst: replace CPU model documentation with an include directive - monitor.rst: replace the command section with a comment - images.rst: add toctree - target-arm.rst: Replace use of :math: (which Sphinx complains about) with :sup:, and hide it behind |I2C| and |I2C| substitutions. Content that is not @included remains exclusive to qemu-doc.texi.
