Callers should be able to specify whether they want job_cancel_sync() to
force-cancel the job or not.
In fact, almost all invocations do not care about consistency of the
result and just want the job to terminate as soon as possible, so they
should pass force=true. The replication block driver is the exception,
specifically the active commit job it runs.
As for job_cancel_sync_all(), all callers want it to force-cancel all
jobs, because that is the point of it: To cancel all remaining jobs as
quickly as possible (generally on process termination). So make it
invoke job_cancel_sync() with force=true.
This changes some iotest outputs, because quitting qemu while a mirror
job is active will now lead to it being cancelled instead of completed,
which is what we want. (Cancelling a READY mirror job with force=false
may take an indefinite amount of time, which we do not want when
quitting. If users want consistent results, they must have all jobs be
done before they quit qemu.)

Remove the workaround introduced in commit
6ecbc6c52672db5c13805735ca02784879ce8285
"replication: Avoid blk_make_empty() on read-only child".
It is not needed anymore since s->hidden_disk is guaranteed to be
writable when secondary_do_checkpoint() runs. Because replication_start(),
_do_checkpoint() and _stop() are only called by COLO migration code
and COLO-migration activates all disks via bdrv_invalidate_cache_all()
before it calls these functions.

The replication driver needs access to the children block-nodes of
it's child so it can issue bdrv_make_empty() and bdrv_co_pwritev()
to manage the replication. However, it does this by directly copying
the BdrvChilds, which is wrong.
Fix this by properly attaching the block-nodes with
bdrv_attach_child() and requesting the required permissions.
This ultimatively fixes a potential crash in replication_co_writev(),
because it may write to s->secondary_disk if it is in state
BLOCK_REPLICATION_FAILOVER_FAILED, without requesting write
permissions first. And now the workaround in
secondary_do_checkpoint() can be removed.

As the BlockReopenQueue can contain nodes in multiple AioContexts, only
one of which may be locked when AIO_WAIT_WHILE() can be called, we can't
let the caller lock the right contexts. Instead, individually lock the
AioContext of a single node when iterating the queue.
Reintroduce bdrv_reopen() as a wrapper for reopening a single node that
drains the node and temporarily drops the AioContext lock for
bdrv_reopen_multiple().

Add new parameters to configure future backup features. The patch
doesn't introduce aio backup requests (so we actually have only one

Experiments show, that copy_range is not always making things faster.
So, to make experimentation simpler, let's add a parameter. Some more
perf parameters will be added soon, so here is a new struct.
For now, add new backup qmp parameter with x- prefix for the following
reasons:
- We are going to add more performance parameters, some will be
related to the whole block-copy process, some only to background
copying in backup (ignored for copy-before-write operations).
- On the other hand, we are going to use block-copy interface in other
block jobs, which will need performance options as well.. And it
should be the same structure or at least somehow related.
So, there are too much unclean things about how the interface and now
we need the new options mostly for testing. Let's keep them
experimental for a while.
In do_backup_common() new x-perf parameter handled in a way to
make further options addition simpler.
We add use-copy-range with default=true, and we'll change the default
in further patch, after moving backup to use block-copy.

Replace
error_setg(&err, ...);
error_propagate(errp, err);
by
error_setg(errp, ...);
Related pattern:
if (...) {
error_setg(&err, ...);
goto out;
}
...
out:
error_propagate(errp, err);
return;
When all paths to label out are that way, replace by
if (...) {
error_setg(errp, ...);
return;
}
and delete the label along with the error_propagate().
When we have at most one other path that actually needs to propagate,
and maybe one at the end that where propagation is unnecessary, e.g.
foo(..., &err);
if (err) {
goto out;
}
...
bar(..., &err);
out:
error_propagate(errp, err);
return;
move the error_propagate() to where it's needed, like
if (...) {
foo(..., &err);
error_propagate(errp, err);
return;
}
...
bar(..., errp);
return;
and transform the error_setg() as above.
In some places, the transformation results in obviously unnecessary
error_propagate(). The next few commits will eliminate them.
Bonus: the elimination of gotos will make later patches in this series
easier to review.

Note that some filters have secondary children, namely blkverify (the
image to be verified) and blklogwrites (the log). This patch does not
touch those children.
Note that for blkverify, the filtered child should not be format-probed.
While there is nothing enforcing this here, in practice, it will not be:
blkverify implements .bdrv_file_open. The block layer ensures (and in
fact, asserts) that BDRV_O_PROTOCOL is set for every BDS whose driver
implements .bdrv_file_open. This flag will then be bequeathed to
blkverify's children, and they will thus (by default) not be probed
either.
("By default" refers to the fact that blkverify's other child (the
non-filtered one) will have BDRV_O_PROTOCOL force-unset, because that is
what happens for all non-filtered children of non-format drivers.)

This is just a bandaid to keep tests/test-replication working after
bdrv_make_empty() starts to assert that we're not trying to call it on a
read-only child.
For the real solution in the future, replication should not steal the
BdrvChild from its backing file (this is never correct to do!), but

Drop write notifiers and use filter node instead.
= Changes =
1. Add filter-node-name argument for backup qmp api. We have to do it
in this commit, as 257 needs to be fixed.
2. There are no more write notifiers here, so is_write_notifier
parameter is dropped from block-copy paths.
3. To sync with in-flight requests at job finish we now have drained
removing of the filter, we don't need rw-lock.
4. Block-copy is now using BdrvChildren instead of BlockBackends
5. As backup-top owns these children, we also move block-copy state
into backup-top's ownership.

56: op-blocker doesn't shoot now, as we set it on source, but then
check on filter, when trying to start second backup.
To keep the test we instead can catch another collision: both jobs will
get 'drive0' job-id, as job-id parameter is unspecified. To prevent
interleaving with file-posix locks (as they are dependent on config)
let's use another target for second backup.
Also, it's obvious now that we'd like to drop this op-blocker at all
and add a test-case for two backups from one node (to different
destinations) actually works. But not in these series.
141: Output changed: prepatch, "Node is in use" comes from bdrv_has_blk
check inside qmp_blockdev_del. But we've dropped block-copy blk
objects, so no more blk objects on source bs (job blk is on backup-top
filter bs). New message is from op-blocker, which is the next check in
qmp_blockdev_add.
257: The test wants to emulate guest write during backup. They should
go to filter node, not to original source node, of course. Therefore we
need to specify filter node name and use it.

The bdrv_reopen_queue() function is used to create a queue with
the BDSs that are going to be reopened and their new options. Once
the queue is ready bdrv_reopen_multiple() is called to perform the
operation.
The original options from each one of the BDSs are kept, with the new
options passed to bdrv_reopen_queue() applied on top of them.
For "x-blockdev-reopen" we want a function that behaves much like
"blockdev-add". We want to ignore the previous set of options so that
only the ones actually specified by the user are applied, with the
rest having their default values.
One of the things that we need is a way to tell bdrv_reopen_queue()
whether we want to keep the old set of options or not, and that's what
this patch does. All current callers are setting this new parameter to
true and x-blockdev-reopen will set it to false.

This new field can be set by block drivers to list the runtime options
they accept that may influence the contents of the respective BDS. As of
a follow-up patch, this list will be used by the common
bdrv_refresh_filename() implementation to decide which options to put
into BDS.full_open_options (and consequently whether a JSON filename has
to be created), thus freeing the drivers of having to implement that
logic themselves.

Before this patch, bdrv_refresh_filename() is used in a pushing manner:
Whenever the BDS graph is modified, the parents of the modified edges
are supposed to be updated (recursively upwards). However, that is
nonviable, considering that we want child changes not to concern
parents.
Also, in the long run we want a pull model anyway: Here, we would have a
bdrv_filename() function which returns a BDS's filename, freshly
constructed.
This patch is an intermediate step. It adds bdrv_refresh_filename()
calls before every place a BDS.filename value is used. The only
exceptions are protocol drivers that use their own filename, which
clearly would not profit from refreshing that filename before.
Also, bdrv_get_encrypted_filename() is removed along the way (as a user
of BDS.filename), since it is completely unused.
In turn, all of the calls to bdrv_refresh_filename() before this patch
are removed, because we no longer have to call this function on graph
changes.

This function is used to put the hidden and secondary disks in
read-write mode before launching the backup job, and back in read-only
mode afterwards.
This patch does the following changes:
- Use an options QDict with the "read-only" option instead of
passing the changes as flags only.
- Simplify the code (it was unnecessarily complicated and verbose).
- Fix a bug due to which the secondary disk was not being put back
in read-only mode when writable=false (because in this case
orig_secondary_flags always had the BDRV_O_RDWR flag set).
- Stop clearing the BDRV_O_INACTIVE flag.
The flags parameter to bdrv_reopen_queue() becomes redundant and we'll
be able to get rid of it in a subsequent patch.

After commit f8d59dfb40
"block/backup: fix fleecing scheme: use serialized writes" fleecing
(specifically reading from backup target, when backup source is in
backing chain of backup target) is safe, because all backup-job writes
to target are serialized. Therefore we don't need additional
synchronization for these reads.

We are gradually moving away from sector-based interfaces, towards
byte-based. Make the change for the last few sector-based calls
into the block layer from the replication driver.
Ideally, the replication driver should switch to doing everything

We have too many driver callback interfaces; simplify the mess
somewhat by merging the flags parameter of .bdrv_co_writev_flags()
into .bdrv_co_writev(). Note that as long as a driver doesn't set
.supported_write_flags, the flags argument will be 0 and behavior is
identical. Also note that the public function bdrv_co_writev() still
lacks a flags argument; so the driver signature is thus intentionally
slightly different. But that's not the end of the world, nor the first
time that the driver interface differs slightly from the public
interface.
Ideally, we should be rewriting all of these drivers to use modern
byte-based interfaces. But that's a more invasive patch to write
and audit, compared to the simplification done here.

The protocol_name field is used when selecting a driver via protocol
syntax (i.e. <protocol_name>:<filename:options:...>). Drivers that are
only selected explicitly (e.g. driver=replication,mode=primary,...)
should not have a protocol_name.
This patch removes the protocol_name field from the brdv_replication
structure so that attempts to invoke this driver using protocol syntax
will fail gracefully:

qemu-common.h includes qemu/option.h, but most places that include the

to the places that actually need it.
While there, drop superfluous includes of both headers, and

The bdrv_reopen*() implementation doesn't like it if the graph is
changed between queuing nodes for reopen and actually reopening them
(one of the reasons is that queuing can be recursive).
So instead of draining the device only in bdrv_reopen_multiple(),
require that callers already drained all affected nodes, and assert this
in bdrv_reopen_queue().

We currently do not guard everywhere against a NULL bs->drv where we
should be doing so. Most of the places fixed here just do not care
about that case at all.
Some care implicitly, e.g. through a prior function call to
bdrv_getlength() which would always fail for an ejected BDS. Add an
assert there to make it more obvious.
Other places seem to care, but do so insufficiently: Freeing clusters in
a qcow2 image is an error-free operation, but it may leave the image in
an unusable state anyway. Giving qcow2_free_clusters() an error code is
not really viable, it is much easier to note that bs->drv may be NULL
even after a successful driver call. This concerns bdrv_co_flush(), and
the way the check is added to bdrv_co_pdiscard() (in every iteration
instead of only once).
Finally, some places employ at least an assert(bs->drv); somewhere, that
may be reasonable (such as in the reopen code), but in
bdrv_has_zero_init(), it is definitely not. Returning 0 there in case
of an ejected BDS saves us much headache instead.

We are gradually moving away from sector-based interfaces, towards
byte-based. In the common case, allocation is unlikely to ever use
values that are not naturally sector-aligned, but it is possible
that byte-based values will let us be more precise about allocation
at the end of an unaligned file that can do byte-based access.
Changing the signature of the function to use int64_t *pnum ensures
that the compiler enforces that all callers are updated. For now,
the io.c layer still assert()s that all callers are sector-aligned,
but that can be relaxed when a later patch implements byte-based
block status. Therefore, for the most part this patch is just the
addition of scaling at the callers followed by inverse scaling at
bdrv_is_allocated(). But some code, particularly stream_run(),
gets a lot simpler because it no longer has to mess with sectors.
Leave comments where we can further simplify by switching to
byte-based iterations, once later patches eliminate the need for
sector-aligned operations.
For ease of review, bdrv_is_allocated() was tackled separately.
