2023-06-28block: use bdrv_co_debug_event in coroutine contextPaolo Bonzini
bdrv_co_debug_event was recently introduced, with bdrv_debug_event becoming a wrapper for use in unknown context. Because most of the time bdrv_debug_event is used on a BdrvChild via the wrapper macro BLKDBG_EVENT, introduce a similar macro BLKDBG_CO_EVENT that calls bdrv_co_debug_event, and switch whenever possible. 2023-02-23block: Mark public read/write functions GRAPH_RDLOCKKevin Wolf
This adds GRAPH_RDLOCK annotations to declare that callers of bdrv_co_pread*/pwrite*() need to hold a reader lock for the graph. For some places, we know that they will hold the lock, but we don't have the GRAPH_RDLOCK annotations yet. In this case, add assume_graph_lock() with a FIXME comment. These places will be removed once everything is properly annotated. 2023-01-20include/block: Untangle inclusion loopsMarkus Armbruster
We have two inclusion loops: block/block.h -> block/block-global-state.h -> block/block-common.h -> block/blockjob.h -> block/block.h block/block.h -> block/block-io.h -> block/block-common.h -> block/blockjob.h -> block/block.h I believe these go back to Emanuele's reorganization of the block API, merged a few months ago in commit d7e2fe4aac8. Fortunately, breaking them is merely a matter of deleting unnecessary includes from headers, and adding them back in places where they are now missing. 2016-10-28block: introduce BDRV_POLL_WHILEPaolo Bonzini
We want the BDS event loop to run exclusively in the iothread that owns the BDS's AioContext. 2011-12-05qed: adjust the way to get nb_sectorsZhi Yong Wu
This patch is only to refactor some lines of codes to get better and more robust codes. As you have seen, in qed_read_table_cb() it's nice to use qiov->size because that function doesn't obviously use a single struct iovec. In other two functions, if qiov use more than one struct iovec, the existing way will get wrong nb_sectors. To make the code more robust, it will be nicer to refactor the existing way as below. 2011-10-05qed: fix use-after-free during l2 cache commitStefan Hajnoczi
QED's metadata caching strategy allows two parallel requests to race for metadata lookup. The first one to complete will populate the metadata cache and the second one will drop the data it just read in favor of the cached data. There is a use-after-free in qed_read_l2_table_cb() and qed_commit_l2_update() where l2_table->offset was used after the l2_table may have been freed due to a metadata lookup race. Fix this by keeping the l2_offset in a local variable and not reaching into the possibly freed l2_table. 2011-08-02async: Remove AsyncContextKevin Wolf
The purpose of AsyncContexts was to protect qcow and qcow2 against reentrancy during an emulated bdrv_read/write (which includes a qemu_aio_wait() call and can run AIO callbacks of different requests if it weren't for AsyncContexts). Now both qcow and qcow2 are protected by CoMutexes and AsyncContexts can be removed. Signed-off-by: Kevin Wolf <kwolf@redhat.com>
2010-12-17qed: Table, L2 cache, and cluster functionsStefan Hajnoczi
This patch adds code to look up data cluster offsets in the image via the L1/L2 tables. The L2 tables are writethrough cached in memory for performance (each read/write requires a lookup so it is essential to cache the tables). With cluster lookup code in place it is possible to implement bdrv_is_allocated() to query the number of contiguous allocated/unallocated clusters.
