2018-07-28qstring: Move qstring_from_substr()'s @end one to the rightMarkus Armbruster
qstring_from_substr() takes the index of the substring's first and last character. qstring_from_substr(s, 0, SIZE_MAX) denotes an empty substring. Awkward. Shift the end index one to the right. This simplifies both qstring_from_substr() and its callers. 2018-05-15block: Support BDRV_REQ_WRITE_UNCHANGED in filtersMax Reitz
Update the rest of the filter drivers to support BDRV_REQ_WRITE_UNCHANGED. They already forward write request flags to their children, so we just have to announce support for it. This patch does not cover the replication driver because that currently does not support flags at all, and because it just grabs the WRITE permission for its children when it can, so we should be fine just submitting the incoming WRITE_UNCHANGED requests as normal writes. It also does not cover format drivers for similar reasons. They all use bdrv_format_default_perms() as their .bdrv_child_perm() implementation so they just always grab the WRITE permission for their file children whenever possible. In addition, it often would be difficult to ascertain whether incoming unchanging writes end up as unchanging writes in their files. So we just leave them as normal potentially changing writes. 2018-05-04qobject: Modify qobject_ref() to return objMarc-André Lureau
For convenience and clarity, make it possible to call qobject_ref() at the time when the reference is associated with a variable, or argument, by making qobject_ref() return the same pointer as given. 2018-05-04qobject: Replace qobject_incref/QINCREF qobject_decref/QDECREFMarc-André Lureau
Now that we can safely call QOBJECT() on QObject * as well as its subtypes, we can have macros qobject_ref() / qobject_unref() that work everywhere instead of having to use QINCREF() / QDECREF() for QObject and qobject_incref() / qobject_decref() for its subtypes. The replacement is mechanical, except I broke a long line, and added a cast in monitor_qmp_cleanup_req_queue_locked(). Unlike qobject_decref(), qobject_unref() doesn't accept void *. Note that the new macros evaluate their argument exactly once, thus no need to shout them. 2018-02-09Move include qemu/option.h from qemu-common.h to actual usersMarkus Armbruster
qemu-common.h includes qemu/option.h, but most places that include the former don't actually need the latter. Drop the include, and add it to the places that actually need it. While there, drop superfluous includes of both headers, and separate #include from file comment with a blank line. 2017-04-27block: Do not unref bs->file on error in BD's openMax Reitz
The block layer takes care of removing the bs->file child if the block driver's bdrv_open()/bdrv_file_open() implementation fails. The block driver therefore does not need to do so, and indeed should not unless it sets bs->file to NULL afterwards -- because if this is not done, the bdrv_unref_child() in bdrv_open_inherit() will dereference the freed memory block at bs->file afterwards, which is not good. We can now decide whether to add a "bs->file = NULL;" after each of the offending bdrv_unref_child() invocations, or just drop them altogether. The latter is simpler, so let's do that. 2016-03-22include/qemu/osdep.h: Don't include qapi/error.hMarkus Armbruster
Commit 57cb38b included qapi/error.h into qemu/osdep.h to get the Error typedef. Since then, we've moved to include qemu/osdep.h everywhere. Its file comment explains: "To avoid getting into possible circular include dependencies, this file should not include any other QEMU headers, with the exceptions of config-host.h, compiler.h, os-posix.h and os-win32.h, all of which are doing a similar job to this file and are under similar constraints." qapi/error.h doesn't do a similar job, and it doesn't adhere to similar constraints: it includes qapi-types.h. That's in excess of 100KiB of crap most .c files don't actually need. Add the typedef to qemu/typedefs.h, and include that instead of qapi/error.h. Include qapi/error.h in .c files that need it and don't get it now. Include qapi-types.h in qom/object.h for uint16List. Update scripts/clean-includes accordingly. Update it further to match reality: replace config.h by config-target.h, add sysemu/os-posix.h, sysemu/os-win32.h. Update the list of includes in the qemu/osdep.h comment quoted above similarly. This reduces the number of objects depending on qapi/error.h from "all of them" to less than a third. Unfortunately, the number depending on qapi-types.h shrinks only a little. More work is needed for that one. Signed-off-by: Markus Armbruster <armbru@redhat.com> [Fix compilation without the spice devel packages. - Paolo] Signed-off-by: Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com>

2015-12-18block: Pass driver-specific options to .bdrv_refresh_filename()Kevin Wolf
In order to decide whether a blkdebug: filename can be produced or a json: one is necessary, blkdebug checked whether bs->options had more options than just "config", "x-image" or "image" (the latter including nested options). That doesn't work well when generic block layer options are present. This patch passes an option QDict to the driver that contains only driver-specific options, i.e. the options for the general block layer as well as child nodes are already filtered out.
