2021-03-02build: set Unicode true for NSIS installerfanquake
Now that we are using Focal for gitian builds, and have NSIS 3.0+ available (also in Guix), we can create installers that support unicode. Unicode is only becoming the default beginning with the 3.07 release, https://nsis.sourceforge.io/Docs/AppendixF.html#v3.07-cl, so we need to set this attribute to get support. Should close: #13817 Co-authored-by: Chun Kuan Lee <ken2812221@gmail.com>
2020-11-21Fix version string in Windows and Mac installersAndrew Chow
Fixes some typos that cause gitian to fail to make the installers.
2020-11-18Drop the leading 0 from the version numberAndrew Chow
Removes the leading 0 from the version number. The minor version, which we had been using as the major version, is now the major version. The revision, which we had been using as the minor version, is now the minor version. The revision number is dropped. The build number is promoted to being part of the version number. This also avoids issues where it was accidentally not included in the version number. The CLIENT_VERSION remains the same format as previous as previously, the Major version was 0 so that was never a factor in CLIENT_VERSION.
2020-04-28nsis: Specify OutFile path only onceCarl Dong
Previously, we would specify the makensis output file path twice: 1. At the top of Makefile.am as BITCOIN_WIN_INSTALLER, and 2. In share/setup.nsi.ini This commit uses the -X flag of makensis to eliminate the need for the second instance mentioned above, referring makensis directly to the value of BITCOIN_WIN_INSTALLER
2020-04-02guix: Make x86_64-w64-mingw32 builds reproducibleCarl Dong
- Add "--no-insert-timestamp" LDFLAG for x86_64-w64-mingw32 builds "The option --no-insert-timestamp can be used to insert a zero value for the timestamp, this ensuring that binaries produced from identical sources will compare identically." - ld(1) - Set "SetDateSave off" in NSIS script From https://nsis.sourceforge.io/Docs/Chapter4.html#flags "This command sets the file date/time saving flag which is used by the File command to determine whether or not to save the last write date and time of the file, so that it can be restored on installation. Valid flags are 'on' and 'off'. 'on' is the default." - Add commented out NSIS options for reproducibility debugging in NSIS script - Make ZIPs deterministic by reseting file modification times to SOURCE_DATE_EPOCH using touch(1) (Reference: https://reproducible-builds.org/docs/archives/)

8563341714a1ec452dd3304a39dd880face49c84 Bugfix: NSIS: Exclude Makefile* from docs (Luke Dashjr) Pull request description: Otherwise, the generated Makefile is included in the NSIS-installed documentation, which can lead to non-determinism (eg, if gawk is installed on some build VMs, but others only have mawk) (gawk is part of the standard Ubuntu bionic server install, but for some reason missing on many other developers' build VMs.) (Branch is safe to merge cleanly into 0.14-0.17 branches also) Testing requested. I have a separate `fix_nsis_makefile` branch directly on the `v0.17.0rc1` tag, which produces for me (with gawk installed): ``` f2f0e81e053f6bb59f3007a182e3e8b5cc4ccd374cfee29c80861d00c508a798 bitcoin-0.17.0-win-unsigned.tar.gz 935d4ef25e9602352833bbd594003a7b07ef9e2281fa9a2258c0f71167bdaaca bitcoin-0.17.0-win32-debug.zip 37a789993f4fef6007633a988614f8008389463ded6807c1beaaf3c04212d5f9 bitcoin-0.17.0-win32-setup-unsigned.exe 8b04d4d7de3d4308bff5f2e61bb771926dd66fa815fcea1eadc8d627f0f8970a bitcoin-0.17.0-win32.zip 8883dad775c2b97085b2217175e9916a9aa894ff97fbdc9b7ca74b4e8206298d bitcoin-0.17.0-win64-debug.zip cd30d3eb2b739f6e4956c768ea4fb0230fb23e01dcad094d2fbf4efa6c7dad52 bitcoin-0.17.0-win64-setup-unsigned.exe 817d5b9df4cc3f7fd323e134ed8670787aa9cafc921e883bbbb9cdfb439b03da bitcoin-0.17.0-win64.zip e3ed7f2d4a5993e4c343e967cfa838c6314fa98900c43519572a31b96d3e00ca src/bitcoin-0.17.0.tar.gz 38d2f92cf2c9823ea3c52aaa9c42f7cb38a87a12896a89379bfc4315a04d2e92 bitcoin-win-0.17-res.yml ``` Tree-SHA512: dda68a765e3e682f7b4352a8ec6942559eb6a29c740d6bd1008c788e3e50f44fd2d157100616cc7aaffc2568640ec6a74fb063a29645cd02ba14a0828ab6f01c

2018-04-14Avoid launching as admin when NSIS installer ends.JeremyRand
The Bitcoin Core NSIS script runs with elevated privileges. Unfortunately, this means that it launches Bitcoin Core itself with elevated privileges when the user chooses to launch Bitcoin Core at the end of the installation procedure. This commit works around the issue by having explorer.exe launch Bitcoin Core. Seems to be a similar approach to what http://nsis.sourceforge.net/ShellExecAsUser_plug-in does, but without a plugin. h/t to "UK" at https://mdb-blog.blogspot.se/2013/01/nsis-lunch-program-as-user-from-uac.html?showComment=1410158039989#c2463780017054126736 for the sample code. Fixes #7990.

2016-04-11Remove wxwidgets references from NSIS script.JeremyRand
The NSIS script tried to delete wxwidgets-based executables/locales. These files are ancient, and presumably no users have them anymore, so we can simplify the NSIS script by removing those lines.
2016-04-11build: Use PACKAGE_TARNAME and new bin names in NSIS script.JeremyRand
Replaces the hardcoded string "bitcoin" with the autoconf variable PACKAGE_TARNAME; fixes #7265. Places where I chose not to replace: 1. bitcoin.ico wasn't replaced because it doesn't seem to be relevant to the build system and its filename never affects the end user. 2. InstallDir wasn't replaced because the current text has an uppercase B, and I'm not sure of a good way to capitalize the result of PACKAGE_TARNAME. 3. A comment in the Main Installer section wasn't replaced because comments don't ever face the end user. 4. The registry value "URL:Bitcoin" wasn't replaced for the same reason as InstallDir. 5. Startup shortcut wasn't replaced for the same reason as InstallDir. All other appearances of "bitcoin" were replaced with PACKAGE_TARNAME, except for the bin names, which were instead replaced with the new bin name autoconf variables.
